NBC Renew/Cancel: 'Timeless' Likely to be Canceled

KEY
  • Show title (Average adults 18-49 rating / most recent rating)

CERTAIN TO BE CANCELED
  • None
LIKELY TO BE CANCELED
  • Timeless (1.6 / 1.4)
Timeless fell to a 1.4 this past week, and it is very likely to fall again this upcoming week. This just isn't strong enough for a post-Voice show and will very likely to be canceled at the end (or before) of this season. The two things keeping it out of certain cancellation territory right now are that it is still averagely-rated for the network and the fact that NBC's midseason class may completely flop.

COULD GO EITHER WAY
  • Blindspot (1.3 / 1.1)
Blindspot has proven to be a fairly consistent performer for NBC this season so far. However, it had a weaker outing this most recent week so it is edging into likely cancellation territory once again, but it is still not quite there yet.

LIKELY TO BE RENEWED
  • The Blacklist (1.2 / 1.1)
  • Chicago Med (1.3 / 1.3)
  • The Good Place (1.6 / 1.2)
  • Superstore (1.4 / 1.2)
The Blacklist is one of NBC's lowest-performing shows at the moment, so how is it still likely to be renewed? First of all, it has essentially fixed one of NBC's notorious death slots for the time being. Second of all, it has been a solid performer for NBC for four years now, and I feel as if NBC will, at the very least, give it a shortened, fifth and final season.

Chicago Med is the lowest-performing of NBC's Chicago shows, so there is a VERY slight chance NBC may dump it. However, that chance is, like I said, VERY slight because it has the word "Chicago" in its title and belongs to Dick Wolf so it probably won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

The Good Place and Superstore have come together and launched NBC's most successful comedy block in years. Even if that isn't saying very much, it is still enough for them to be considered likely renewals.

CERTAIN TO BE RENEWED
  • Chicago Fire (1.8 / 1.8)
  • Chicago P.D. (1.5 / 1.4)
  • Law & Order:  SVU (1.6 / 1.4)
  • This Is Us (2.7 / 2.8)
All of the shows listed here are either NBC's highest-rated shows (This Is Us, Chicago Fire) or NBC's most stable shows (Chicago P.D., SVU), so their certain renewal status is very self-explanatory. You don't need to worry about these ones.
