S2E2 "When Will Josh See How Cool I Am?"
The episode begins with Greg at an AA meeting, a part of the story I am really interested in seeing more of. Rebecca talks to Josh, and she really tries to hint at things, which is really funny. Rebecca ends up saying that she's really good and ping-pong. I am really interested in Paula's law school story as well.
Josh worries that he may have caused Greg's alcoholism, and I like that Josh is having a different reaction to this news than everyone else. Father Brah gives Josh some surprising insight. I really enjoyed Greg's apology to Heather, because I think it seems real that he would remember something little. It is really hilarious when Josh, talking to Greg, counts on his fingers how many times he slept with Rebecca.
Rebecca ends up putting ping-pong over Paula, which is really sad, though with this I wish we had seen more of Rebecca practicing ping-pong. However, I can definitely forgive this since its time was given to Greg's story, which is even more important.
Paula talks to her husband, and it is a great scene. I loved the reference to "After Everything I've Done for You (That You Didn't Ask For)", and Paula's worry that her dreams are dumb are a great concern to see her struggle with. Greg doesn't show up to the meeting, which is heartbreaking. I also loved the line about white Josh being judgy.
White Josh and Hector go to look for Greg, and I love how Hector forgets the "one rule". Rebecca finds Greg, and it is a great, deep scene. Rebecca finally comes through for Paula, and it is a great scene. I also liked how Darryl keeps saying that he and Paula are best friends. Poor Darryl, at least he has white Josh. Rebecca finally admits to Josh that all she wants is to spend time with him. The ending of the episode is great.
And now for my thoughts on the songs of the episode...
Maybe This Dream: This song had a couple of funny lines, but I really wasn't a fan of the song. I don't think it was a good choice to do a song in this style.
Greg's Drinking Song: This song was a lot funnier. I especially enjoying the parts about Greg puking on his cat, flying a plane, and having sex with a bush. Greg gets some hilarious songs.
I Could If I Wanted To (Reprise): It was short, but carried a lot of emotion. Greg is trying to show that he doesn't care, even though he really does.
Ping Pong Girl: I'm really happy that the show did a rock song, I thought it was a lot of fun, even if it wasn't quite as funny as "Greg's Drinking Song".
While I wasn't too crazy about "Maybe This Dream", the rest of the episode was great. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is back to being its hilarious and also deep self.
