Starship Season 1 Episode 10: Revelations (SEASON FINALE)

Episode #110
"Revelations"
Written by
Luke Parker

FADE IN:
DREAM SEQUENCE
INT. STARSHIP - POD ROOM - NIGHT
We open the finale on a close up of a pair of eyes. We slowly
pan back to reveal that Annica herself is in a pod in the pod
room.

A beat, and she wakes up. Annica looks around and realizes
where she is - trapped in a pod. Horrified, she begins to
scream. As she begins to scream we

END DREAM SEQUENCE
It was another dream (or vision). Annica wakes up with a
small gasp and looks around. She realizes she’s safe and in
her bed.

CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - CYBER DECK - MORNING
Meridian is in the Cyber Deck making some routine repairs. He
has his equipment out and is tinkering around with the
machines. He stops when he hears something coming from
outside the room. He walks over to the door and peering out
he sees Wyatt making a phone call. He slightly opens the door
and we hear the conversation:

CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - CYBER DECK HALLWAY - MORNING
WYATT
Yes, I know what we have to do.
(a beat)
The Elders have all the information
they need. I’ve done all I can do.
Now we just wait.
(a beat)
Worried? Some should be, not you.

WYATT (CONT'D)
Only the fit will be handle what’s
to come.

CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - CYBER DECK - MORNING
Meridian hearing this, gasps and drops one of his tools.

CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - CYBER DECK HALLWAY - MORNING
Wyatt hears the noise and suspects an eavesdropper.

WYATT
Hey, Eli, I’ve gotta go, but I’ll
see you in a few minutes.

Wyatt hangs up the phone and hesitantly walks into the Cyber
Deck.

CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - CYBER DECK - MORNING
When Wyatt enters he looks around, suspecting to find
someone. But no one is there.

WYATT
Hello?

No answer. Wyatt walks around the room and gives a menacing
look. Hesitantly, after a beat, he leaves.

After Wyatt is gone Meridian steps out of the closet and
breathes a sigh of relief. He pulls out his phone and makes a
call.

MERIDIAN
Davis, I need to talk to you as
soon as possible. Meet me in the
Commons.

Meridian is catching onto the secret ongoings of Wyatt.

CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - RESIDENITAL SUITES HALLWAY - MORNING
Winter stands outside the door of Ocean’s room (her mother
who disappeared a few episodes back). She knocks on the door.
No answer. A beat and she knocks again. Still no answer.

WINTER
Mom? Can you let me in? It’s
Winter.

No answer.

WINTER (CONT'D)
This really isn’t funny anymore.
Please let me in.

Still no answer. Finally, she pulls out a keycard and swipes
at the door. It opens.

WINTER (CONT'D)
Did not expect Eli’s card to work.
Perks.

CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - OCEAN’S ROOM - MORNING - MOMENTS LATER
Winter walks in and looks around.

WINTER
Mom?

She looks around the room and cannot find Ocean or any sign
of her. It’s weird, but not totally alarming.

WINTER (CONT'D)
I guess she’s out. I’ll leave a
note.

Winter picks up a nearby notepad and writes down the
following message: “Please call Winter. It’s been weeks and I
miss you. If this is a joke, it’s not funny anymore.”

WINTER (CONT'D)
(nervous)
I hope you’re okay, mom.
With one final hesitant look, Winter leaves the empty room.

CUT TO:.
INT. STARSHIP - CAPTAIN’S ROOM - MORNING
We cut directly to Winter at a later point in the morning.
She walks into the Captain’s Room with a sort of sense of
emergency.

WINTER
Ok, Eli, I got you’re message.
What’s so urgent?

As she enters the room she sees Eli, Wyatt, and Miranda all
standing nervously around the room. Miranda holds a laser gun
in her hand.

MIRANDA
Glad you could join us, Winter.

WINTER
Woah, woah, woah. What’s going on
here?

MIRANDA
Why don’t you tell her, Eli?

When Eli talks he sounds tired and a little aggravated.

ELI
Miranda here tells us she thinks
you killed that kid, Maxx.

MIRANDA
I know you did.

WINTER
OK, I know you must be from the
Night because you’re just plain
crazy. I didn’t even know that kid.

MIRANDA
I’ve found proof. I know you were
the last one to go into the Pool
Room the night he died, right after
he did. So no, I’m not crazy.

WINTER
What? I didn’t even leave my room
that night, and I sure as hell
didn’t kill some kid I don’t even
know.

MIRANDA
Data doesn’t lie. And until I get a
confession out of you, I’m not
putting this laser down.

WINTER
I really don’t know what you’re
talking about. Can we all just calm
down?

MIRANDA
Please, don’t insult my
intelligence by lying. You three
think you can get away with
everything just because you’re the
First Family. That ends today. The
corruption, the mysteries.

ELI
Wait. She is telling the truth.

MIRANDA
Stop trying to cover for her.

ELI
I’m not.
(a beat)
I was the last one in the Pool Room
that night, not Winter. It was me.

Wyatt and Winter gasp, shocked and confused. Off of this
revelation, we:
CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - THE COMMONS - MORNING
Meridian and Davis sit at a table in the Commons.

DAVIS
So you heard a strange conversation
Wyatt was having. What’s the big
deal again?

MERIDIAN
You don’t think that’s a red flag?
Especially with all the recent
developments about the Solar Wars
and what he had me prepare the ship
for?

DAVIS
Yes, it’s strange, but pretty much
everything the Elaras do is. I
think you’re just on edge.

MERIDIAN
No, I’m not on the edge. I’m
responding with freight, like
anyone would if they heard what I
did.

DAVIS
And I get that, but we don’t know
what he’s talking about. We can’t
lose sleep over something that
could be nothing.

MERIDIAN
I really can’t believe you’re so
calm about this. Of all people, I
thought you would want to help me.

DAVIS
I’m not saying I don’t want to help
you look into this. I’m just trying
to help you calm down a little.

MERIDIAN
I’ve had to be quiet about too much
for too long. I don’t want to sit
on this.

DAVIS
I think you’re under a lot of
stress after last night. Let me
finish looking into the mysterious
phone calls I’ve been getting and
then we can hang out.
(playful)
I promise to take your mind off of
things.

Davis puts a reassuring hand on Meridian who shrugs it off.

MERIDIAN
So you don’t want to take me
seriously, right? You want me to
just forget about this like I
always do.

DAVIS
No, I never said that--
Meridian cuts Davis off.

MERIDIAN
You know what, it’s fine. My own..
Searching for whatever he would call Davis..

MERIDIAN (CONT'D)
Whatever you are...won’t even take
me seriously.

Meridian stands up.

DAVIS
Hey, just calm down. You’re scared
after last night, I get that. Just
chill.

MERIDIAN
I got somewhere to be. I’ll see
you.
In a fit of anger and sadness, Meridian storms off leaving
Davis alone.

CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - CAPTAIN’S ROOM - MORNING
Picking up where we left off...

WYATT
What? What do you mean it was you?

WINTER
You didn’t have something to do
with that kid...?
Eli sighs, as his two siblings stare at him in shock. Miranda
drops her laser gun and looks at Eli stone cold.

MIRANDA
What did you do?

ELI
I wish I could really tell you. But
I don’t know the whole truth.

MIRANDA
What’s that suppose to mean?
When Eli speaks he sounds extremely nervous and even scared.

ELI
I’m-uh-I’m not sure if you’ve heard
about the missing periods of time
some of the residents have been
having lately.

MIRANDA
So you’re going to blame it on not
being able to remember some of it?

ELI
No. But it’s like that.

WINTER
Eli..tell me you did not hurt that
boy.

ELI
It’s not that I wanted to. But I
had no choice.

MIRANDA
Of course you had a choice. You
always have a choice.

WINTER
I think I’m gonna be sick.
Winter sits down in a nearby chair, distraught. Wyatt seems
not too fazed.

ELI
The Elders. They have ways of
making people do things. Doing
things they never wanted to and
things they could have never
dreamed of doing. Things you do not
have a say in. I’m sure you know
how they are--who they are.

Miranda takes a moment before she responds. Thinking of Kai’s
strange disappearance.

MIRANDA
I know they’re bad people. But you
always have a choice. I can’t let
Maxx’s death go like this.

ELI
I know you don’t want to, but you
have to. Or else, well, maybe
you’ll be seeing Maxx sooner than
you thought.

MIRANDA
I need to know why.

ELI
He found out something. Starship’s
true purpose.

Winter looks up confused.

WINTER
Huh? What are you talking about?

WYATT
Eli, don’t tell them. You know what
the Elders would do.

ELI
Miranda, Maxx found out something.
He found out the truth. And when he
did, he went directly to the
Elders. I know it was hard for him
to get up there, but he and the
Night have their ways, which you
know. They dismissed him. And then
made me deal with him.

MIRANDA
So you could have done anything.
Thrown him into the mysterious
Lower Level, put him in prison.
Anything. But you decided to kill
him.

ELI
That’s not true. I went to go talk
to him. I was going to pay him off
like he wanted. But when I went to
go meet with him, it was like I
couldn’t control myself. I started
doing something I didn’t think I
ever could. The Elders..they didn’t
want the truth to get out. It would
ruin everything.

MIRANDA
What are you getting at?

ELI
Wyatt, you know about this already,
but Miranda and Winter, you don’t.

WINTER
Know about what?

WYATT
You’re really going to tell them
this?

ELI
Yes.
(a beat)

ELI (CONT'D)
So, I’ll bare you the boring
details. But, everyone on the ship
has this chip in them. The Elders
got paranoid around last Christmas.
With all the Lower Level escapees,
they wanted a way to control bad
residents of the ship. Only to be
used if necessary.

WINTER
What can it do?

ELI
I didn’t know this at first, but I
think it can control people’s
minds. And make them do things they
never want to. And I think they
used it on me.
Winter is horrified. She takes a minute to think and it’s
like all of the questions she’s been having are no longer
questions.

WINTER
Ohmygod.
Miranda’s fed up. She’s on the verge of tears.

MIRANDA
So what, I’m just supposed to hear
this and go on with my life? Act
like everything’s fine? Even though
a crazy group of old idiots killed
my brother? And the person who
pulled the trigger is untouchable.

ELI
I know that you are upset. I don’t
blame you. But trust me, if you
tell anyone about this, or try to
challenge the Elders, they will
hurt you.

MIRANDA
So that’s it?

ELI
I want to make this right with you.
If you ever need anything, you have
the most powerful family here
looking out for you.

MIRANDA
Yeah, well, that’s not a blessing.
That’s a curse. You people are
terrible. And nobody will ever
challenge you. Nothing will change.
We’re all stuck in this miserable
box at your mercy.

ELI
That’s not true. Things will be
different soon.

MIRANDA
Save it. I’ll keep your secret. But
don’t ever think I’m out the game.
Me, the Night, we can be your worst
enemy. And maybe we will.
Miranda picks up her laser gun and storms out the room. Wyatt
chases her out and meets her by the door.

WYATT
So is this why you got close to me?
To use me to find out about Maxx’s
death? I mean it’s pretty clear
that you hate me and my family.

MIRANDA
I don’t hate you specifically.

WYATT
But you did use me. And you do hate
my family.

MIRANDA
Yeah, I do. And I did use you. But
I didn’t expect to actually start
to feel things for you.
Miranda puts a hand on Wyatt’s cheek. Wyatt pushes it off.

WYATT
I’ve heard all I need to hear.
Goodbye Miranda.
Wyatt turns back into the room.

CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - LIBRARY ROOM - AFTERNOON
Davis sits busy in the library typing away at a holographic
computer.

CLOSE ON THE COMPUTER: Davis searches through a log of phone
numbers. He’s looking for something. The mysterious caller
who he received several calls from episodes back.

DAVIS
Come on. If I can just find out who
blocked their number and where they
made the call, I can get to the
bottom of this.

CLOSE ON THE COMPUTER: Davis clicks on a list of “Blocked
Callers Numbers”. He searches through them all, looking for
his caller. He goes through the list, checking the locations
and the caller I.D. He does not find anything suspicious or a
location in the ship that would make the calls come in such
bad audio.

DAVIS (CONT'D)
Maybe this is just something I’ll
never get to the bottom of.

CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - CAPTAIN'S ROOM - AFTERNOON
The Elaras are all still in the Captain’s Room after their
confrontation with Miranda. Wyatt and Eli speak in whispers
away from Winter, who looks distant.

ELI
It’s time.

WYATT
No, it’s not. She wouldn’t be able
to handle the truth.

ELI
She has a right to know. She’s a
part of the First Family. She’s our
sister. And after today, she can’t
be kept in the dark anymore.

WYATT
If that’s really what you want, you
can tell her. But if it goes south,
don’t blame me.

ELI
(to Winter)
Winter, we need to talk to you.
Winter looks up.
.
WINTER
OK, what is it?

ELI
I know you must have a lot of
questions after that. And that
you’re probably wondering what’s
going on with the ship.

WINTER
After today, I have a lot of
questions. Little are about the
ship’s one true purpose.

ELI
I think you need to know this one.

WYATT
You sure about this?

ELI
So, you heard me mention a lot
about the ship’s true purpose.

WINTER
Yes and?

ELI
The truth is...
Eli takes a look at Wyatt, they nod to each other. Finally,
Eli takes a breath before going on.

ELI (CONT'D)
Starship isn’t going to a new
colony. Yet.

WINTER
What do you mean? We’ve-we’ve been
travelling to one for years. Where
else would we be going?

ELI
About a year ago, the Elders
decided they had other plans.
We’re, uh, well, we are travelling
into the unknown. Back towards the
Solar System.

WINTER
Why?

ELI
The Elders want to start the Solar
War. To colonize the Solar System.
Winter gasps, shocked.

ELI (CONT'D)
That’s where we are going. It’s
where we’ve been going and what
we’ve been preparing for. We don’t
know how dangerous it’s going to
be, but it’s going to a rough and
long road. Me and Wyatt thought you
should know.

WYATT
He thought you should know.
Winter takes a moment to think.

WINTER
Actually, I’m not devastated. I
always knew this was a possibility,
but I never actually thought we
would be doing it. At least without
my knowledge. Are you going to tell
the residents?

ELI
In time. When they’re ready.

WINTER
Is that it? Because there are
people on the ship, myself
included, who always thought that
could happen.

ELI
Maybe you did, but to the thousands
of people here who thought they
were getting off this ship soon and
getting a life back, this will
devastate them and their world.
And, there’s more.

WINTER
Go ahead. Nothing will surprise me
anymore.

ELI
There are other people out there.
Other Circuits and ships. And we
can’t guarantee that they’ll all be
nice. They could be dangerous.

ELI (CONT'D)
We don’t know the life they’ve had
over the last decades. They could
be totally different from what me
and you know.

WINTER
Ok, so? We might have some people
to fight. Every war does.

WYATT
I don’t think you get it. These
Circuits, some won’t be like us.
They’ll be horrible and terrifying.

WINTER
Sounds like great material to teach
about. Try me.

ELI
You’ve heard about the missing
periods of time, right?

WINTER
Yes. You gonna tell me about those
now?

ELI
We want the residents to be
prepared. We want them to survive.
So we did what we had to do. The
Elders wanted them to be powerful.
For us to be powerful.

WINTER
What’d you do?

ELI
The Elders demanded that certain
residents receive some--some work.
To make them powerful. For the war
to come.

WINTER
Are you hurting them?

ELI
Of course not.

WINTER
Then I guess they should be
thanking you soon enough.

WYATT
I gotta say, you’re taking all this
really well.

WINTER
I guess you both don’t know me that
well.

ELI
Well, if you’re good with all this,
you both should go, get some rest
after the morning we’ve had.

WINTER
And I know, I won’t tell anyone.
Wyatt, Eli, and Winter hug before turning to leave.

ELI
I’ll be in touch when the time
comes. Stay safe.

CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - THE BAR - EVENING
Meridian sits at the bar, looking depressed while drinking.
Wyatt walks up and sits next to him.

WYATT
(to the bartender)
Whiskey, neat.
Meridian barely looks up at Wyatt.

MERIDIAN
What are you drinking for?

WYATT
Lots of reasons.

MERIDIAN
I’m sure they’re worse than mine.

WYATT
Probably. What about you?

MERIDIAN
I had this thing with my-uh-my
friend. He put me down and I just
blew up at him.

WYATT
Tough love?

MERIDIAN
No, nothing like that.

WYATT
Then I guess I’m alone in that.

MERIDIAN
Trouble with you and that short
girl?

WYATT
We broke up.

MERIDIAN
That’s too bad.

WYATT
For her.

Meridian puts a hand on Wyatt’s back, reassuring. Wyatt looks
up and they stare at each other for a beat. Off this we
CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - MERIDIAN’S ROOM - MOMENTS LATER
Wyatt and Meridian are quickly kissing as they rush into
Meridian’s room and slam the door shut. Wyatt pulls off
Meridian’s shirt and does the same to his as they jump onto
the bed.

WYATT
This doesn’t mean anything.

MERIDIAN
Totally.
They go back to kissing as the scene gets hotter, we
CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - WINTER’S ROOM - NIGHT
Winter walks into her room, looking tired. The lights are
off. She puts down her things and turns on a light. When the
light turns on, we see Nik sitting in a chair. This startles
Winter and she gasps.

WINTER
Oh, you scared me. How did you get
in here? And are you ready to talk
to me again? Because it’s not cool
to pretend I’m some stranger when
things get serious and then cut me
off.

NIK
I can explain all of that. But let
me ask you something to prove that
I’m in this for real.
(a beat)
What do you know about where we
came from?
Off of Winter’s confused face, we
CUT TO:
INT. FACILITY BUILDING - EXACT LOCATION UNKNOWN - NIGHT
A dimly lit room. We don’t know where it is. A group of
security men dressed in black armor walk into a room and are
carrying a person who is in a bag. They sit the person down
on a chair.
Markus (40s), professional looking, walks up behind the men.

MARKUS
Wonderful job. She will be the key
to making contact with the
mothership.
The camera moves past the men to reveal Ocean Elara. She’s
alive and knocked out tied up in a chair.

CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - POD ROOM - NIGHT
We cut to the Pod Room. This is really the Pod Room. Not a
dream. We see the hundreds of rows of people sleeping in
isolation, each in a pod.
We cut to one particular pod, a man - named Light (early
20s). He’s sleeping in his pod just like everyone else.
Until...his eyes bolt open. The Pod then opens too- almost
like clockwork - and his naked body falls out, drenched in
some sort of preservation gel. He looks up and around.

A moment passes as he gets his surroundings straight and then
he lets out a mysterious laugh.
CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - DAVIS’ ROOM - NIGHT
Davis lies sleeping in bed. The galaxy lights up his room.
His phone rings. He takes a minute to wake up before looking
at the phone. It’s an unidentified caller again.
He picks it up.

DAVIS
Who the hell is this and what do
you want?
The voice still comes in with static.
PHONE VOICE (O.S.)
This is an---urgent message--SOS---
we are still here--

DAVIS
Who is this? Where are you?

PHONE VOICE (O.S.)
---Earth.
CUT TO:
INT. STARSHIP - THE ELDERS’ LEVEL - NIGHT
The Elders all sit around the table we’ve seen them at one
too many times.

ELDER 1
It is nearly time, my friends.

ELDER 4
And we did make it. You thought we
would not.

ELDER 3
I always knew we would gain
control.

A few of the Elders laugh.

ELDER 2
Can we make contact with the others
now?

ELDER 5
Not yet. Not until the plan is in
full control.

ELDER 4
It is nearly time.

ELDER 1
Yes. Soon enough the solar system
will be ours to rule. The entire
universe will be ours.

ELDER 3
And the silly humans never knew.

ELDER 2
They truly dug their own grave.
They are ours to control now.

ELDER 5
It’s the dawn of a new age.
The Elders laugh menacingly.
The Elders all stand up and look at each other. They all nod.
And in an instant they all begin screaming in pain. They all
fall to the ground as their clothes begin to rip off.
They fall to the ground and yell out in pain.
There’s a moment of yelling until they all stand up again,
except, we don’t see them how we have all season. They stand
up and we see five tall, green beings. Evil and scary in
sight. The Elders aren’t human, they never were. They are
aliens.
The “Elders” look at each other. With an evil and horrifying
laugh, we...
SMASH CUT TO
BLACK:
TO BE CONTINUED.
END OF SEASON
