Prediction Changes from Last Week:
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is now a Toss Up to be Canceled or Renewed. Sorry Bill Gorman, but with two 0.4 ratings in a row, cancelation is not as certain as it seems.
iZombie has been downgraded to a certain cancelation.
Why Did I Upgrade Crazy Ex-Girlfriend to a Toss Up?
Last night, for the second week in a row, the show scored a 0.4 A18-49 rating, and this time it beat Jane the Virgin. And this is pending adjustments. With a Golden Globe under its belt, cancelation is becoming less certain. Before all its critical success, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend limped on cancelation territory and it even got a partial backorder. It's also not included in the original Netflix deal.
The reason why I upgraded Crazy Ex-Girlfriend to a Toss Up is with the realization that there are outside factors that may play out in its favor. Could it be that scheduling may be the problem? Perhaps. But does a partial backorder really equal cancelation? That rule is bound to be broken eventually. But wait....
Why is iZombie Certain to Be Canceled?
Since iZombie is now the lowest rated purely WB produced show (The Vampire Diaries and The Originals are CBS and WB co-productions), I decided to downgrade it to "certain to be canceled". The 100 and DC's Legends of Tomorrow are getting higher ratings than iZombie, as of late. This is a case where CBS affirmative action is at work. As far as I'm concerned, a final season of The Vampire Diaries is becoming more likely than a third season of a niche DC Comics performer that has a Veronica Mars vibe.
Will early renewals finally happen once sweeps are finished thus decreasing the possibility of uncertainty? Stay tuned.
