Wednesday Ratings: Law & Order: SVU and Chicago PD Impress, Second Chance Underwhelms

ABC

The Middle: 1.9
The Goldbergs: 2.0
Modern Family: 2.6
NBC
Blackish: 1.9
American Crime: 1.1

ABC comedies continue to be a strong force, though The Middle and Blackish failed to break a 2.0, unless they adjust up. American Crime does at least as good as Nashville would have done; I would say that it's exceeded my expectations so far.

CBS

2 Broke Girls: 1.7
Mike & Molly: 1.6
Criminal Minds: 2.0
Code Black: 1.3

Already-cancelled Mike & Molly hit a number a lot of CBS dramas could never dream of hitting, with almost 100% retention out of its 2 Broke Girls lead-in. Criminal Minds finally managed to break a 2.0 again, most likely from the heavily decreased competition from FOX. However, Code Black still looks dead.

FOX

American Idol: 2.5
Second Chance: 1.2

Although American Idol held up well from its premiere week, Second Chance is certainly no Empire. In fact, it premiered to less than a third of Empire's premiere number. May not be the best comparison, but it's a good one considering the time slot, network, and premiere date.

NBC

The Mysteries of Laura: 1.2
Law & Order: SVU: 2.0
Chicago PD: 2.0

Although The Mysteries of Laura can't seem to go above (or below) low 1s, Law & Order: SVU and Chicago PD actually managed to break a 2.0 this week. That's a tied season high for SVU and a new season high for PD. Looks like NBC's scripted luck may be changing for the better!

CW
The Flash (R): 0.4
Arrow (R): 0.4

Not much to say here, other than the fact that these reruns are beating original episodes of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and tying Jane the Virgin.
