Please note that last year's numbers are taken from the whole hour statistics, not the half-hours.
The biggest win of the night went to FOX, that now has two new hits up its sleeve, joining Empire that was quite alone in its territory. The X-Files is an unsurprising success with a 3.2 even without the football game that helped it to get a 6.1 on Sunday night. This is still lower than Empire's series premiere and with all the hype it already got, it's quite unlikely to grow that much, but it's still really good numbers that would be great even on the big three. Of course, with such a lead-in, Lucifer also did a good performance, getting an impressive 2.4 (still down a whole point from its lead-in). I'm still getting a good vibe about this one though.
On the whole other end of the spectrum was the CW, with their Monday shows finally returning. Both of them were nominated for the Golden Globe of Best Leading Actress in a Comedy (and Rachel Bloom from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend won), but neither of them were helped by that, staying on par with their deceiving winter finale numbers. It's unclear how many times awards recognition can save a show, and 0.3 is an extremely low number...
Nothing too surprising on ABC while The Bachelor was up by a few tenths, depending on the half-hour, and The Bachelor Live still went fractionnal in its last half. CBS was also quite even, with Supergirl getting a 1.8, stable from last week and NCIS: Los Angeles getting a 1.5, down a tenth. Scorpion, on the other hand, dropped two tenths, going back to the 1's.
The NBC sitcoms seem to be the only shows to suffer from The X-Files since they're the only 8pm shows to be down. Superstore still got an acceptable 1.4 but Telenovela got back to fractionnal territory with a 0.9. Both were down two tenths from last week. Quite surprisingly, The Biggest Loser was up by two tenths, going back to the more acceptable 1's territory.
