Changes from Last Week

Zero. I wanted to move Nashville to "Likely to be Cancelled" due to the fractional ratings that were even worse than The CW's for the night, but I'm going to wait until next week's winter finale to make a decision since there are so many extraneous factors. Plus, will they really cancel four fall dramas?

Why is Once Upon a Time Still "Certain to be Renewed"?

Once Upon a Time, there was a show on ABC named Once Upon a Time. It premiered to huge numbers, and even last fall was one of ABC's highest-rated shows. This week it got a 1.3 in the coveted A18-49 demo. That put it below or tied with every non-Friday show on the network except for Blood & Oil, Quantico, Castle, The Muppets, and Nashville. That's not good for a show that was amongst the ranks of TGIT just a season ago. So, why is it still Certain to be Renewed?

The question is indirectly answered above, in that it still does better than fellow Sunday dramas Blood & Oil and Quantico, as well as America's Funniest Home Videos at 7pm. So, even with a 1.3 it was the highest-rated show for ABC on Sunday. That really shows that they need to revamp the night, but let's take things one show at a time. They can't just cancel Once Upon a Time and expect to come up with two or three new dramas scheduled consecutively to do better. Also, let's remember that ABC is currently owned by Disney, whose characters have appeared in some form throughout Once Upon a Time. It's one of corporate's biggest entities, along with Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, and as such I'm expecting it to go at least a season or two past where ratings alone should let it.
