SUNSET VALLEY
Season 2, Episode 6: "Nothing to Lose"
FADE IN.
EXT. TOWN CENTER – DAWN
The group awakes in a world where the ground is covered in a light fog. The sun has completely disappeared, leaving only a grayness behind. The buildings, once towering and imposing, now look like cardboard cutouts. The streets are too quiet. It’s lifeless… it’s nothing.
ELLIOT, SYLVIA, JONAS, MARGOT, and SHERIFF HARLOW stand in the center, surrounded by the unnatural stillness of the town.
SYLVIA
(voice trembling)
It's over. We messed up and now this is it.
JONAS
(fighting panic)
I'm sorry... I didn't mean to.
SHERIFF HARLOW
(squinting at the horizon)
It's not your fault, Jonas. We all thought of it... you're just the one who actually did it.
MARGOT
(clearly disturbed)
What is real anymore? We've been jumping from town to town that I'm not even sure how deep into this we are anymore.
JONAS
(angrily)
It’s real enough for us to be stuck here forever.
SYLVIA
(voice cracking)
We might never leave. We need to accept that.
A muffled sound comes from a nearby alley: a distant whispering, soft but insistent. It feels familiar, like an echo from another place. The group cautiously approaches.
ELLIOT
(whispering)
It’s coming from there...
The alley is narrow, lined with indistinct walls and faintly glowing outlines. The group edges closer, their footsteps eerily loud in the empty space. As they near the entrance, a dark figure emerges from the fog at the end of the alley.
MARGOT
(voice shaking)
Who is that?
The figure is unmistakably human, but its edges are blurred… The features are indistinct, but as it steps forward, the air becomes heavy.
PRISM
(voice distorted, but familiar)
You really had to mess things up, didn't you?
The figure moves closer, and the group can see now: it’s Prism.
SYLVIA
(relieved)
Please, tell us that you have a way out for us.
PRISM
I told you guys before. I can't do much. Especially, when you guys keep messing with everything.
MARGOT
(softly, to herself)
What if... you take us to where you're going when you're not with us?
JONAS
Yes, that's a good idea. Let's do that!
SYLVIA
(urgently)
That might work. C'mon, chop chop. Take us there.
Prism rolls his eyes, as if he’s bored with the suggestion.
PRISM
You guys think I can just take you there? That would make me an accomplice of yours and all the other types of help I could provide would be out the window.
Suddenly, the ground beneath them begins to vibrate.
SHERIFF HARLOW
We’re running out of time!
Prism hesitates, and suddenly, another figure appears beside him: this time, it’s the Cloaked Man. He stands there, grinning in the same unsettling manner, as the world around them becomes more unstable.
THE CLOAKED MAN
(taunting)
Time is a luxury you don’t have anymore. And you... (it looks at Prism) I'm so disappointed. I was starting to trust you. But no... Since you like this group so much... be a part of this group.
PRISM
(stepping back)
No. I'm ending this, NOW! Everyone run to that gate.
He points to a shiny glass gate at the end of the road. The group runs toward it and crosses the gate.
The Cloaked Man watches, emotionless.
THE CLOAKED MAN
Oh, this will be fun.
CUT TO BLACK.
