Weekly Analysis

On Monday, Blindspot earned a 2.6 rating, down a half a point from the premiere. However, the final half-hour of the show earned a 2.3 rating, which may be seen as alarming to some. I think Blindspot is far from discussion of cancellation and you should not be worried over this show's fate. It is very strong for a 10 P.M. show and even more strong in general for NBC's lineup. Blindspot is likely to be renewed.

On Wednesday, The Mysteries of Laura garnered a 1.2 rating, even with its season 2 premiere. I almost considered moving Laura up to "likely to be canceled" because of its stability, but after some consideration I still think it is certain to be cancelled (FYI, this prediction could still change if Laura shows complete stability or gains in ratings during the rest of the fall season). Law & Order: SVU earned a 1.7 in the 9 o'clock hour against Empire. SVU is still reliable for NBC and not much else needs to be said. Moving on... Chicago P.D. returned to NBC with a 1.7 rating for its season 3 premiere. Reliable, above average ratings for NBC and syndication on the horizon both combine to give P.D. a "certain to be renewed."

On Thursday, Heroes Reborn led off the night with a 1.6 rating. I am well aware that I said last week that I will make a "renew" or "cancel" prediction on the show in this post, but this mediocre rating showed me that a couple more weeks may be needed to make an accurate prediction. If Reborn can stay in the mid-upper 1s for the rest of its run then I think it will be renewed. However, if it falls below a 1.3 I think that NBC will call it a "mini-series" (like it was originally supposed to be) and never even have to officially cancel it. The Blacklist returned for its third season premiere with a 1.8 rating. For syndication purposes, The Blacklist is certain to be renewed...no matter what TVBTN said in their prediction. Enough said. The Player? Still DOA. Certain to be canceled.
