The Rookie: 0.5 is not a massive number, that's for sure. In fact, it's a bit below the league average, which isn't usually how you want a show to be rating, especially on premiere night. However, The Rookie's 0.5 debut last night is certainly not weak. It grew from the 0.4 for its lead-in, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and tied 8 PM series Supermarket Sweep. Its timeslot is one of the worst on TV, with many shows dying in the Sunday at 10 slot due to abysmal ratings. Fall timeslot occupant Card Sharks never went above a 0.45, even with a stronger Millionaire lead-in than Rookie had. It's hard to imagine ABC letting The Rookie go this season. It's the only thing that they've found that has worked in this slot in many years. It's a LIKELY RENEWAL.
