Amazon Prime Video Renew/Cancel: Homecoming Looks Solid

This is The TV Ratings Guide’s first renew/cancel post for Amazon Prime Video, Amazon’s paid streaming service. Using audience demand figures from Parrot Analytics can give us a solid stance on where things stand at the moment. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment!

Note: If a show receives a 5.0 in the ‘U.S. Audience Demand Multiplier,’ that means the show has five times more audience demand than the average show across all of television, past and present, on a rolling 30-day average. These numbers are updated as of Saturday, January 23, 2021.

Toss-Up

Absentia

A continuation from AXN, Absentia has more than four times the demand as the average show. More importantly, its multiplier is very respectable for Amazon Prime Video, higher than some already-renewed dramas, with no show with a higher multiplier canceled.

Homecoming

Homecoming’s audience demand multiplier is higher than all other shows in this table with fates yet to be determined. Despite it having a lower multiplier than all renewed dramas, it is much closer to dramas that have been renewed than it is to the one that was canceled (Utopia).

Pete The Cat & If You Give A Mouse A Cookie

Both of these shows have similar multipliers, which are higher than any other kids show on Amazon Prime Video. As such, signs point toward renewal. If they are not renewed, expect Amazon to clean house with their kids programming.

Tales from the Loop

Tales from the Loop is in a similar situation to Homecoming. It having a higher multiplier in eight different countries will likely count for something, and should be enough to keep it around. After all, Amazon Prime Video targets consumers worldwide.

Just Add Magic: Mystery City

With a 0.1 audience demand multiplier, Just Add Magic: Mystery City has a multiplier 14 times less than the next-lowest comedy (Modern Love). Plus, Modern Love appears to be an international success. Just Add Magic: Mystery City is likely Amazon Prime Video’s least-demanded comedy (demand is unknown for Truth Seekers) and it simply doesn’t have all that much going for it.

Baahubali: The Lost Legends

Amazon Prime Video is light on animation, but Undone proves animation can see at least decent results on the platform. Baahubali: The Lost Legends has inexcusable demand. It does have better demand in three other countries, but the demand in those countries is not all that promising either.

Jessy & Nessy & The Bug Diaries

The audience demand multipliers for these two shows is less than 0.1, meaning they have less than 10% the demand of the average show across all platforms past and present. Not only is that abysmal, but it pales compared to the other kids shows on Amazon Prime Video, and no show with a similar multiplier has been renewed as of now. The lack of demand makes future seasons appear unlikely.

Truth Seekers

Parrot Analytics has yet to provide audience demand multipliers for Truth Seekers.
