Hulu Renew/Cancel: Renewal Predicted for PEN15

This is The TV Ratings Guide’s first renew/cancel post for Hulu, Disney’s paid streaming service that isn’t named Disney+. Using audience demand figures from Parrot Analytics can give us a solid stance on where things stand at the moment. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment!

Note: If a show receives a 5.0 in the ‘U.S. Audience Demand Multiplier,’ that means the show has five times more audience demand than the average show across all of television, past and present, on a rolling 30-day average. These numbers are updated as of Saturday, January 23, 2021.

PEN15

PEN15 is Hulu’s most in-demand comedy at the moment, and there is much competition in that department. It’s no Handmaid’s Tale, but it’s still one of Hulu’s most in-demand originals overall, including eight already-renewed shows.

Into the Dark

Into the Dark is one of Hulu’s most in-demand originals, yet so far, only one drama with less demand has been renewed. As a drama, it doesn’t look like Into the Dark has all that much room to fall, but canceling it would indicate a mass exodus of the genre.

Monsterland

Monsterland would look fine if it was a comedy, but Hulu seems to have higher standards for their dramas. If renewed, Monsterland would likely have less audience demand than all other original dramas on Hulu.

The Hardy Boys

Parrot Analytics has not provided data on The Hardy Boys. Based off a massively popular book series, there is a ton of source material and it is easily marketable. Given how much material those behind the series have to work with in a hypothetical second season, as well as the likelihood that readers of the book series would be interested in checking this out, I would bet on renewal.
