Preliminary Analysis: It appears the days of lucrative Tuesday television are cooling down. Former megahit 'This Is Us' has finally scraped into the chilly waters of fractional shows with a 0.9. Adjustments will likely push a little higher, but sophomore lead-in 'Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist' (0.4) and Canadian import 'Nurses' (0.4) only retained 45% of the evening's strongest show. 'Zoey' and 'This Is Us' were both down a tenth while 'Nurses' managed to pick one up. CBS took the week off with their franchised procedurals all in repeats, leaving the scripted focus on FOX. The season premiere of 'The Resident' (0.6) tied its series low, while 'Prodigal Son' (0.5) carved out a new low without the lucrative lead in from '9-1-1' it had on Mondays the prior season. ABC's special showing of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (0.4) appears to have been blasted with subzero ratings temperatures, it came well below last week's 'Lion King' (0.71) broadcast. And CW's second season premiere of 'Two-Sentence Horror Stories' (0.1) and Canadian import 'Trickster' (0.1) matched the usual ratings for a network which disregards Nielsen reports.
Finals Update: 'This Is Us' (1.0, +0.1), 'The Resident' (0.7, +0.1), 'Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist' (0.5, +0.1) and 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (0.5, +0.1) adjusted up.Tuesday TV Ratings 1/12/21: Prodigal Son Hits Series Low in Premiere, The Resident Matches Low, This Is Us Fractional (UPDATED)
