The Bold Type Renewed for Short Final Season

The Bold Type will soon reach its end. The Freeform drama has been renewed for a fifth and final season, nearly six months after it wrapped up season four. The drama has been a consistent part of the Freeform schedule since 2017 and is their longest-running current series. Season five will consist of six episodes, making it the shortest season of the series' run. Season four, which ran for eighteen episodes, was initially set to consist of eighteen, but was cut due to the COVID crisis. This meant that the season was not able to properly wrap, and it seems possible that this short final season was greenlit to allow the show to tie up loose ends that weren't tied up due to the finale not being filmed. When the series wraps its fifth season later in 2021, it will have fifty-two episodes to its name. Katie Stevens, Aisha Dee, Meghann Fahy and Melora Hardin star in the series, which has been one of the lower-rated scripted shows on cable, with just a 0.06 average for season four.
