CBS All Access Renew/Cancel: The Twilight Zone Looking Good For Renewal + More Predictions

This is The TV Ratings Guide’s first renew/cancel post for CBS All Access, ViacomCBS’s paid streaming service. Using audience demand figures from Parrot Analytics can give us a solid stance on where things stand at the moment. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment!

Note: If a show receives a 5.0 in the ‘U.S. Audience Demand Multiplier,’ that means the show has five times more audience demand than the average show across all of television, past and present, on a rolling 30-day average. These numbers are updated as of Saturday, January 23, 2021.

Cancelation Predicted

The Twilight Zone

Despite Season 2 having been released last summer, The Twilight Zone still has roughly 12 times the audience demand as the average show. More importantly, no show with a higher audience demand than The Twilight Zone has been canceled, and some below it have already been renewed.

It is a bit concerning that The Twilight Zone has not been renewed yet, given it was renewed for Season 2 midway through the first season. Still, it would be tough to bet on the cancelation of one of the platform’s higher-rated shows.

Star Trek: Short Treks

This one of many Star Trek installments on CBS All Access looks like a huge flop compared to the three already-renewed installments. Despite its weaker numbers, it doesn’t require its own set and is mostly seen as filler in between installments of more popular shows. If it was a high-profile Star Trek show like Discovery, Picard, or Lower Decks, this might be a different conversation.

Coyote

Unfortunately, Parrot Analytics does not yet have numbers for Coyote. There is not enough information to make a prediction on it.

Tooning Out The News

The first season of these animated shorts was over 100 episodes long, yet the season concluded in mid-December and there hasn’t been a word on a second season. Given how time-sensitive the show is, you would think a second season would’ve been announced by now if it was to actually happen. They’ve already missed several golden opportunities from politics these past six weeks. So while Parrot Analytics hasn’t provided any insight, that reasoning alone has led to a cancelation prediction.
