Mom S3E2 Review

TV Fanatic
In this week's episode of Mom, Bonnie and Christy are helping out a young addict. Read on for my thoughts on the episode!

S3E2 "Thigh Gap and a Rack of Lamb"

At the start of the episode, Bonnie is sharing in AA. She got her driver's license back, and she also is bragging about her thigh gap. Christy is sitting next to a new member of AA, and tries to be helpful to her. Bonnie thanks people, such as Marjorie, Jill, and Wendy, but doesn't acknowledge Christy. Bonnie was very funny in this scene. Later that night, they run into the new young member of AA and invite her to eat with them.

Christy, Bonnie, Marjorie, Jill, and Wendy eat with the new member, who tells them her story. That night, Christy and Bonnie take her in, though they make sure to put their more expensive things into their room. This was funny, but I also felt the embarrassment of the girl. The next morning, the girl is gone, she went back to her drug dealing boyfriend. Marjorie and Bonnie are at the coffee shop, and Christy arrives with food she has taken from the restaurant, which she says that she has to do because she doesn't get paid enough. They encourage her to ask for a raise, and it is very funny because Christy is not at all assertive. Claudia, however, must fire Christy because her brother needs a job. Claudia offers her a waitress job, but Christy quits instead.

Christy comes home and tells Bonnie that she quit, which Bonnie reminds Christy is a bad idea because now she doesn't have a job and can't get unemployment. Christy mentions that she stole a rack of lamb, but goes back to try to get her job back. She gets the waitress job, and goes to pick up Roscoe from his dad's. Roscoe wants to stay at his dad's for the weekend because they got a boat, but Christy is angry because this is her time with Roscoe. At AA, she talks about what's going on in her life. The girl, Jodi, shows up and tells them that she told her boyfriend that she wanted to get clean, and he was not happy about it. Bonnie takes her hand, and it is an amazing moment that really shows the growth of the character of Bonnie.

This was a great episode of Mom. It was very funny, but it also had some really great serious moments.
