Morning Shows:
ABC's 'Good Morning America' led the morning show ratings in premiere week, averaging 3.93 million viewers Monday through Friday. NBC's 'The Today Show' (3.82 million) took a close second, while 'CBS This Morning' ranked a distant third (2.94 million). In the 25-54 demo, 'The Today Show' (1.37 million) led.

Evening News:
'World News Tonight with David Muir,' on ABC, took victory for the week, averaging 8.23 million viewers in the four days it aired (did not air Thursday), ahead of both 'NBC Nightly News' (7.63 million), and the 'CBS Evening News' (5.65 million). Similar to the morning shows, NBC's newscast led the in the 25-54 demographic (1.76 million).

Late Night:
At 11:35 p.m., NBC's 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' led the first week of the season in the 18-49 demographic, averaging a 0.51 rating over the course of 5 days. 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' was just behind at 0.45, while 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' managed only 0.37. In total viewers, 'Late Show' (3.14 million) was on top of both 'Fallon' (2.35 million) and 'Kimmel' (1.89 million).

At 12:35 a.m., 'Late Night with Seth Meyers' (0.30 rating, 1.34 million viewers) averaged higher than both 'Nightline' (0.26, 1.27 million) and 'The Late Late Show with James Corden' (0.23, 1.26 million) in the demo and total viewers. Finally, at 1:35 a.m., NBC's 'Last Call with Carson Daly' averaged a 0.19 rating and 790,000 viewers.

Sunday News:
CBS's 'Face the Nation' (3.57 million viewers) triumphed over ABC's 'This Week' (3.39 million), and FOX's 'Fox News Sunday' (1.46 million). NBC's 'Meet the Press' did not air.

NFL:
CBS's 5 p.m. NFL coverage averaged a 12.1 household (HH) rating with 20.69 million viewers, an impressive gain over the comparative day last year (10/1/17) when it averaged a 9.1 HH rating and 15.59 million viewers. FOX's 1 p.m. game averaged a 10.3 HH rating with 18.01 million viewers, and the CBS 1 p.m. game had a 9.3 rating with 15.39 million viewers.
