Ratings Analysis: Though the 'NFL Overrun' (6.47) on CBS was almost 11% higher than the year prior (5.83), the season premiere of '60 Minutes' (1.33) declined by 13% when compared to last fall (1.53). 'The Equalizer' (0.66) dropped by a similar amount for its return despite having a much stronger lead-in than it did for its Fall 2021 debut. At 10, new drama 'East New York' (0.46) had a passable launch and led into a pilot encore of 'So Help Me Todd' (0.29). On ABC, 'America's Funniest Home Videos' (0.34) returned over 30% lower than last year's premiere (0.50) and led into sinking editions of 'Celebrity Jeopardy!' (0.37, -0.05) and 'Celebrity Wheel of Fortune' (0.36, -0.12). At 10, 'The Rookie' (0.30, -0.01) miraculously shed just a hundredth from its premiere. On Fox, 'The Simpsons' (0.47, -0.94), 'The Great North' (0.35, -0.40), 'Bob's Burgers' (0.37, -0.20), and 'Family Guy' (0.39, -0.11) all crash-landed to normal levels after riding the NFL inflation high on premiere night. For what its worth, everything but 'Family Guy' improved from their May 2022 finales. In the 7PM hour, reruns of 'The Simpsons' (0.28) and 'Bob's Burgers' (0.39) were clearly inflated by afternoon football. The 'Chiefs v. Buccaneers' NFL game (5.53) grew by nearly five-tenths from last week's '49ers v. Broncos' faceoff (5.04) on NBC. The CW's premieres of 'Family Law' (0.03) and 'Coroner' (0.03) performed worse than week-ago reruns of 'World's Funniest Animals' (0.06/0.08).
Finals Update: '60 Minutes' (+0.3), 'The Simpsons' (+0.1), 'Celebrity Jeopardy!' (+0.1), 'Celebrity Wheel of Fortune' (+0.1), 'Bob's Burgers' (+0.1), 'The Equalizer' (+0.1), 'NFL Overrun' (+2.1), 'East New York' (+0.1), 'Football Night in America' (+0.1), and 'NFL: Chiefs v. Buccaneers' (+1.1) adjusted up. The repeat of 'The Simpsons' (-0.2) adjusted down.
