Ratings Analysis: Though it admittedly had rotten lead-in support in the form of the 'Global Citizen Festival' (0.12), ABC's 'Celebrity Jeopardy!' (0.42) did not impress on series premiere night. While not a bad rating by any means, one would expect a brand as famous as 'Jeopardy!' to manage a little more for the debut of a new variation. Later in the evening, 'Celebrity Wheel of Fortune' (0.47) actually grew by seven-hundredths when compared to its Fall 2021 launch (0.40), but 'The Rookie' (0.31) declined by half a point on a year-to-year basis. On Fox, 'NFL Overrun' (7.04) and 'The OT' (3.46) improved noticeably from last year. This clearly helped the season premiere of 'The Simpsons' (1.41) grow by just under 20% from its year-ago return (1.18). The growth slowed by the time 'The Great North' (0.75) arrived, with the latter improving by just 10% and retaining a subpar 53% of the 'Simpsons' rating. The extra NFL help did nothing for 9PM comedies 'Bob's Burgers' (0.57) and 'Family Guy' (0.50) as the two dipped by 8% and 14% respectfully from their year-ago premieres. CBS went with a sturdy '60 Minutes' (0.57) and a 'Big Brother' finale (0.81, -0.13) that declined dramatically from last week. A 10PM rerun of 'The Equalizer' (0.19) was the weakest, non-CW offering of the night. NBC's '49ers v. Broncos' football game (5.04) towered over the other broadcasts and gave the peacock network an easy win. The CW had repeats of 'World's Funniest Animals' (0.06/0.08) and 'Penn & Teller: Fool Us' (0.05).
Finals Update: 'NFL Overrun' (+2.5), 'The OT' (+1.0), 'The Simpsons' (+0.1), 'Bob's Burgers' (+0.1), 'Family Guy' (+0.1), 'NFL: 49ers v. Broncos' (+1.3), and 'Celebrity Wheel of Fortune' (+0.1) adjusted up. 'Football Night In America' (-0.3) adjusted down.
