Ratings Analysis: First-time host Miles Teller and musical guest Kendrick Lamar were unable to keep 'Saturday Night Live' (0.73) afloat on premiere night. NBC's sketch-comedy staple returned with a new series low for its season 48 premiere and declined by over 20% from its Fall 2021 launch (0.92). The peacock network had even less luck in the primetime hours as their 'Halloween in Hollywood' special (0.13) turned out to be a complete dud in the 8PM slot. 'Dateline' (0.17) and 'SNL Vintage' (0.18) improved a tiny bit from there. ABC's 'NC St. v. Clemson' college football game (1.12) rose by five-hundredths from the 'Wisconsin v. Ohio State' one (1.07) that aired a week prior. Fox was at about half of the alphabet network's size with its 'MLB: Regional Coverage' (0.54). CBS had a rerun of 'The Equalizer' (0.25), an encore of 'NCIS: LA' (0.21), and a rising '48 Hours' (0.23, +0.02). The CW was down across the board with repeats of 'Great Chocolate Showdown' (0.02) and 'Masters of Illusion' (0.03/0.03).
