Ratings Analysis: Being off the air for over a year did not seem to faze CBS's long-running reality series 'The Amazing Race' (0.69). 'Race' was just a tenth behind its December 2020 finale (0.8) in the 18-49 demographic and nearly matched that closer in total viewers (4.40 million vs. 4.46 million). The news was much less encouraging at 10PM as new drama 'Good Sam' (0.31) retained less than half of 'Amazing Race' for its series debut. On Fox, musical game show 'I Can See Your Voice' (0.38) returned in battered condition for its second season. This rating is over 50% below its previous series low (0.8) and an egregious 75% behind its September 2020 start (1.2). The timeslot premiere of 'Next Level Chef' (0.46) was able to build from there but was at less than a third of its Sunday preview (1.55). ABC's 'The Goldbergs (0.59, +0.10) and 'The Wonder Years' (0.44, +0.10) both gained a tenth, but 'The Conners' (0.46, -0.06) posted a new low while 'Home Economics' (0.29, -0.04) tied its previous low. At 10, game show 'The Chase' (0.27) also hit a new series low for its first episode of 2022. On NBC, 'Chicago Med' (0.75, +0.05), 'Chicago Fire' (0.86, +0.12), and 'Chicago PD' (0.73, +0.03) all rose for their midseason premieres. The CW aired reruns of 'Legends of Tomorrow' (0.05) and 'Batwoman' (0.03).
Finals Update: 'The Goldbergs' (+0.1), 'I Can See Your Voice' (+0.1), 'Chicago Fire' (+0.2), 'Chicago Med' (+0.1), 'The Conners' (+0.1), and 'Next Level Chef' (+0.1) adjusted up.
