Friday TV Ratings 12/31/21: New Year's Rockin' Eve Drops but Still Easily Leads, CBS and NBC Specials Solid (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: In typical New Year's Eve fashion, 'Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest' (1.58/2.10) outpaced the competing NYE offerings but still declined by well over 30% from 2020 (2.31/3.55). NBC had little luck with '2021: It's Toast!' (0.51) but exploded at 10:30pm with the Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson-hosted 'Miley's New Year's Eve Party' (1.89). After not offering a special the year prior, CBS got a solid rating out of 'New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash' (0.80). Following the cancellation of their annual 'Toast & Roast' gala, Fox went with meager encores of 'Beat Shazam' (0.33) and 'Gordon Ramsay's Road Trip' (0.23). The CW's 'iHeartRadio Music Festival' rerun (0.12) posted the same rating as it did the previous year (0.12).

Finals Update: Both segments of 'Rockin' Eve' (+0.4, +0.5), 'New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash' (+0.1), '2021: It's Toast!' (+0.2), and 'Miley's New Year's Eve Party' (+1.1) adjusted up.
