After numerous attempts to adapt a spinoff of How I Met Your Mother, the project has finally found a home at Hulu. How I Met Your Father has secured a straight-to-series ten-episode order at the streaming service. The project has been in development in some way for nearly a decade, which was first at CBS under the title "How I Met Your Dad." Hilary Duff will star in the Hulu series, which is executive produced by How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. Like HIMYM, How I Met Your Father will center on Duff's character telling stories from her past to her children that tie into how she met their father. Aside from similar formatting, it's unknown how the series will tie into the original story of How I Met Your Mother, or if it will be related to that story in any way. The series, like How I Met Your Mother, will blend elements of multi-camera and single-camera filming.
