Monday TV Ratings 4/5/21: NCAA Championship Dominant but Heavily Down from 2019, American Idol Hits New Low, Debris Rises (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: CBS's broadcast of the 'NCAA Championship' (3.0) crushed the competition but was down a little over 40% from 2019's telecast (5.3). An upward adjustment should get 2021's championship closer to 2019. An inflated encore of 'The Neighborhood' (1.2) and 'Championship Central' (1.1) preceded the main attraction. 'American Idol' (0.6) lost a tenth and fell to a new low on ABC, losing to a steady edition of NBC's 'The Voice' (0.8). NBC also beat out ABC in the 10pm hour but only because the alphabet network's 'The Good Doctor' (0.3) was in repeat-mode. The peacock network's 'Debris' (0.4) picked up a tenth. Fox's 'America's Most Wanted' (0.3) inched down behind another '9-1-1' rerun (0.3). The CW aired encores of 'Superman & Lois' (0.1) and 'Legacy of Hope' (0.1).

Finals Update: '2021 NCAA Tournament Final' (+0.1), 'Championship Central' (+0.1), 'American Idol' (+0.1), and 'America's Most Wanted' (+0.1) adjusted up. The repeat of 'The Neighborhood' (-0.7) adjusted down.
