The Golden Girls Pulled from Hulu Over "Offensive" Portrayal of Cheesecake Addiction

Fans of The Golden Girls will no longer be able to watch the beloved series on Hulu starting today. The streaming giant has pulled all episdoes of the series from availability over what many online activists have called an "offensive" portrayal of cheesecake addiction by the series' lead characters. An online petition, which drew over 300,000 signatures, described the series as "mocking those in the cheesecake-addicted community by depicting them as willpower-less monsters who are so struck by their addiction that they wake up in the middle of the night to devour a whole cheesecake. It's disgusting, disturbing, and it has normalized anti-cheesecake addict rhetoric in the world. The show must be made unavailable to view in order to begin healing." Hallmark is still deciding whether they will continue airing the series, but they are reportedly leading towards pulling it as well and replacing it with repeats of a pro-cheesecake show such as The Big Bang Theory. Fox News has already commited to airing a one-hour special "Golden Target: The Left's Cancellation of The Golden Girls" tonight at 7 PM, and is in talks to aquire distribution rights for the series.
