NBC's new sitcoms 'Young Rock' and Kenan' will be back for another round of episodes, the peacock network has renewed both programs for a second season. 'Young Rock' centers on wrestler/actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and the different phases of his life. Uli Latukefu, Bradley Constant, Joseph Lee Anderson, and Stacey Leilua make up the main cast. 'Kenan' focuses on 'Saturday Night Live' star Kenan Thompson's life as a widowed dad raising two daughters. Aside from Thompson, Don Johnson, fellow 'SNL' cast member Chris Redd, Kimre Lewis, Dani Lane, and Dannah Lane star in the series.
'Young Rock' and 'Kenan' both got off to strong starts in the ratings for their series debuts, with 'Rock' posting a mammoth 1.01 A18-49 rating and 'Kenan' garnering a solid 0.83 rating. Viewers quickly fled from there, with the two being in freefall ever since. The most recent episode of 'Young Rock' was down to a middling 0.46, less than half of its series debut. Meanwhile, 'Kenan' closed out its first season with an uninspiring 0.39 rating in the lucrative 18-49 demographic. Nonetheless, the renewals signal that NBC wants to build up its comedy brand and nurture these shows some more.
