Preliminary Analysis: ABC's latest reality effort 'Pooch Perfect' (0.6) got off to a healthy start in the lead-off position. The dog-based offering was a tenth shy of where 'To Tell the Truth' began in January (0.67) but a tenth above the week-ago 'Truth' finale (0.52). That 0.6 rating was enough to top the night, which is more of a testament to how low ratings have gotten than it is to the strength of 'Pooch'. Despite the stronger lead-in, 'Black-ish' (0.4) ticked down on a week-to-week basis. 'Mixed-ish' (0.4) and 'Soul of a Nation' (0.3) held steady from there. NBC's comedy duo just kept sinking, with 'Young Rock' (0.5) and 'Kenan' (0.4) each losing yet another tenth. This means that both sitcoms are at just half of their premiere ratings from February (1.01/0.83). 'New Amsterdam' (0.4) also lost a tenth in the 10pm hour but looked a lot better than usual since it doubled the 'This Is Us' repeat (0.2) that came before it. CBS's repeat lineup of 'NCIS' (0.4), 'FBI' (0.4), and 'FBI: Most Wanted' (0.3) was a hair above Fox's encores of 'Resident' (0.3) and 'Masked Singer' (0.3). On the CW, 'Supergirl' (0.1) returned for its sixth and final season in disastrous fashion. The superhero drama came in an alarming three-tenths behind where it began for its fifth season debut (0.4). 'The Flash' (0.2) was flat in the 8pm slot.
Finals Update: 'Young Rock' (0.6, +0.1), 'Black-ish' (0.5, +0.1), and repeats of 'FBI' (0.5, +0.1), 'The Masked Singer' (0.4, +0.1), and 'FBI: Most Wanted' (0.4, +0.1) all adjusted up.
