Good Girls: The veteran NBC dramedy returned last Sunday from an extended hiatus after its third season was cut short by COVID. It's always been a pretty tepid performer, and it was performing quite poorly in season three. That was partially due to a very weak lead-in and partially due to standard year-to-year decliens being applied to a show that wasn't very high-rated to begin with. On Sunday, it returned with an Ellen's Game of Games lead-in that gave it absolutely no help (it was both incompatible and low rated, delivering a series low 0.3). Still, Good Girls returned slightly up from its season three premiere and steady with the season three average, despite having its weakest-ever lead-in. Maybe it'll drop as the season goes on, and perhaps the Harry & Meghan interview provided something of an indirect lead-in for the show, since more peopel were watching broadcast from 8-10 than usual. However, with ratings similar to previous seasons, I don't think ratings will be an issue for Good Girls. If they could renew it before, they can do it again. Why? It has one of the most lucrative Netflix deals of any show on broadcast television. It does quite well for Netflix, too. As of today, it remains a top 10 most popular title among all series and films available on Netflix, despite its third season being released on Netflix nearly two months ago. It's hard to see NBC canceling a show that makes them so much money. It's a LIKELY RENEWAL.
