Dancing With the Stars Season 25 Premiere Review

It's time for season 25 of Dancing With the Stars! It's the silver anniversary, and they've got all the (not really that famous) stars on this season! I'm excited to see how this shiny, brand new cast will do. I'm also glad to be back for my third season reviewing Dancing With the Stars!

Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas -
Going into the premiere, Lindsey Stirling was the contestant I had the highest hopes for. I really thought she was going to be good, and I was not disappointed. This was a great way to end the night, and as of right now, Lindsey is my personal pick to win.
My Score: 8

Derek Fisher and Sharna Burgess -
I wasn't expecting Derek Fisher to be able to dance well, at all. I can't remember any NBA players being any good at DWTS, so I wasn't expecting him to do well. But he was decent. He's pretty firmly in the middle of the pack, but was still better than I thought he'd be.
My Score: 6

Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson -
Malcolm Frankie Muniz being able to dance pretty well was one of the more unexpected parts for me. I was rooting for him to do well, but I wasn't too hopeful that he'd be good. But I was wrong. He was pretty good. Not my favorite dance of the night, but a pleasant surprise nevertheless.
My Score: 7

Nick Lachey and Peta Murgatroyd -
Considering that his brother took home the mirrorball over a decade ago, Nick Lachey had some pretty big shoes to fill. I'm not going to lie and say that he was great, but he was pretty good. His wife was better, but we'll get to that soon.
My Score: 6

Vanessa Lachey and Maks Chmerkovskiy -
While her husband is related to a former DWTS winner, I've always liked Vanessa Lachey's chances at the mirrorball more. That opinion turned out to be pretty rational, as she was a better dancer this week. While she wasn't my #1, she was one of my favorites and I'm excited to see Nick vs. Vanessa, Round 2 next week.
My Score: 7

Drew Scott and Emma Slater -
Drew Scott was a really wild card this time around, because I thought there was about a 50/50 shot that he'd be good. He was not very good. This was a rough start, but I do see some potential for him. He's no HGTV Dream Home, but he could be with some work.
My Score: 5

Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke -
This was a pretty disappointing start for T.O., because this dance was kinda boring. I didn't have very high expectations for him, but this was just meh. I'm hoping he improves next week, because I do think he has potential.
My Score: 5

Victoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy -
This dance was so much fun! I loved it, even though it wasn't my favorite of the night. I'm really rooting for Victoria to succeed this season, and this was a really great start.
My Score: 7

Sasha Pieterse and Gleb Savchenko -
This wasn't a bad dance at all. But it really didn't thrill me. I liked it just fine, but it was kinda boring. I'm hoping her other dances are better, because she really isn't a bad dancer at all.
My Score: 6

Barbara Corcoran and Keo Motsepe -
I like Barbara a lot, and she's one of my favorite sharks on Shark Tank, but this really wasn't very good. That doesn't mean it was a whole lot of fun to watch, but it certainly wasn't one of the night's best dances. I didn't expect Barbara to be a great dancer, and so I'm just happy that she's participating.
My Score: 5

Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev -
I really enjoyed this performance, and I thought it was really fun. I was kinda surprised by how much I enjoyed it, because I wasn't sure if she'd be good or not.
My Score: 7

Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold -
This was great! Not that I'm very surprised. With his Broadway experience, I was expecting a strong performance, but that doesn't mean I enjoyed this any less. Also, could this finally be Lindsay's year? It's certainly possible.
My Score: 8

Debbie Gibson and Alan Bersten -
Going into the season, Debbie Gibson was one of the only stars I really knew, so I was rooting for her. This dance was pretty good, and I'm excited to see her dance some more, but I'm already a bit worried that she'll be left in the middle of the pack.
My Score: 6

Superlatives:
Worst of the Night: Barbara Corcoran
(Dis)Honorable Mention: Terrell Owens

Dancer of the Night: Lindsey Stirling
Honorable Mention: Jordan Fisher

I thought that this was a pretty good premiere, but I thought the judges were pretty harsh tonight. I wasn't really wowed by many dancers, but I thought pretty much everyone did well. I really think this cast has a lot of potential, so I'm excited to see what they've got in store.

What did you think of the premiere? Who are you rooting for? Let me know in the comments!
