Apple TV+ Renew/Cancel: Ted Lasso Remains Massive As Mr. Corman Becomes The Platform’s Most Abrupt Cancelation Ever

Below is a table of audience demand multipliers as reported by Parrot Analytics for Apple TV+’s original series. A 1.0 multiplier is the average for all shows past and present, and is updated on a rolling 30-day basis. This edition gives an update on the prediction track record so far and discusses predictions for shows yet to be renewed or canceled. The numbers seen in this table are as reported on October 12, 2021. Let us know what you think by leaving a reaction and comment!

Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet
Despite having a high audience demand multiplier and strong international demand, Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet’s fate remains in limbo more than three months after the season finished airing. While fans certainly would have wished for news on another season by now, three months isn’t *too* long so it’s still predicted that there’s a good chance Mythic Quest will return.

Schmigadoon!
If any show on Apple TV+ can be considered niche, it’s Schmigadoon!. As a musical comedy, Apple TV+ is likely hoping for some award recognition to come out of this show, similar to what The CW got with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Perhaps a renewal depends on this, but I’m leaning on the side of renewal regardless.

Mr. Corman
Mr. Corman has a U.S. audience demand multiplier in the double digits and also has solid demand in Australia, United Kingdom, and Canada. On the surface level, the fact Apple TV+ canceled this show the day of its finale is a huge shocker. After all, they’ve only outright canceled one show so far, Little Voice (as predicted by The TV Ratings Guide). It is a huge misfortune for the show to have been canceled so swiftly. It is worth pointing out that Mr. Corman has one of the lowest Rotton Tomato scores of all Apple TV+ shows; its 70% is only above The Morning Show’s 64% and Physical’s 65%. Yes, those two shows were renewed, but The Morning Show had arguably had unrealistic expectations given how hyped up the show was at launch. I’ll admit to being blindsided by Mr. Corman’s cancelation, but every cancelation teaches a lesson.

Home Before Dark
Of all shows discussed so far, Home Before Dark likely has the toughest case for renewal. A relatively low audience demand multiplier combined with the season finale having been three months ago is not a good combination. If Apple TV+ waits much longer to announce a decision, Home Before Dark could be shaded light red before long.

Kids Shows Updates
Apple TV+ has expanded their kids’ shows offerings with Get Rolling with Otis and Wolfboy and the Everything Factory. Unfortunately, their audience demand multipliers have yet to be reported, making predictions impossible now that Apple TV+ is in the business of canceling shows. The real question is if the fates of the likes of The Snoopy Show, Ghostwriter, Stillwater, and Doug Unplugs depend on how the two new shows do. None of them are obvious renewals; in the case of the two Snoopy shows, while Apple has a partnership deal with WildBrain Distribution, they’d almost certainly rather renew shows they distribute themselves. It’s certainly not a bad sign that they have given episode extensions to some shows, as correctly predicted. Stillwater’s Peabody Award certainly couldn’t have hurt it. These shows continue to be predicted as renewals, but that could change if audience demand multipliers for Get Rolling with Otis and Wolfboy and the Everything Factory are much higher.
