An 11-season run came to an end on ABC as the alphabet network said goodbye to sitcom staple 'Modern Family' (1.6) in spectacular fashion. This goes a whopping six-tenths above its week-ago episode (1.0) and marks a new season high for the comedy. One would have to go back over two years ago (March 21, 2018) to find a night where the Dunphy family scored a number higher than this. It goes without saying that the iconic series went out with a bang. The series finale was sandwiched between a solid retrospective special at 8pm (1.3) and the debut of Kimmel-hosted 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' (1.1) at 10pm. The latter garnered respectable numbers but its true test will come next week when its lead-in will be a much much lower 'Single Parents'.
Even with the massive 'Modern Family' spike, Fox's 'The Masked Singer' (2.0) remained the top program of the night. But, the singing-competition series still lost four-tenths from last week. At 9, 'Lego Masters' (1.2) was back and inched up from its last broadcast from two weeks ago.
NBC's Chicago trio saw some minor slippage with 'Chicago Med' (1.2) down by two-tenths but 'Chicago Fire' (1.2) and 'Chicago PD' (1.1) each a tenth below their previous showings. Similarly, CBS's 'Survivor' (1.5) was down a tenth from last week but drama lead-outs 'SEAL Team' (0.7) and 'SWAT' (0.5) matched last week.
The CW had a repeat of 'The Flash' (0.1) leading into an even 'Nancy Drew' (0.1).
