Preliminary Analysis:
It has only been a week since 'Modern Family' left the airwaves but its sturdy presence is already sorely missed on ABC. Fourth-season sitcom 'American Housewife' (0.6) opened below the 'Modern' series low (0.7) as it took over its 9pm timeslot. It was also down a tenth from its last original showing. 'Housewife' led into a steady 'Single Parents' (0.5) at 9:30. At 10, the Kimmel-hosted 'Millionaire' (0.6) fell a whopping five-tenths after last week's stellar debut (1.1). Still, this data point seems excusable given its lead-in was down nearly 70% compared to the assistance it got on premiere night. Earlier in the evening 'The Goldbergs' (0.8) inched down in the lead-off slot but 'Schooled' (0.7) actually gained a tenth at 8:30.
'Lego Masters' (1.2) closed out a respectable season steady with its previous episode despite its 'Masked Singer' lead-in (1.7) being four-tenths lower. It's important to note that 'Masked Singer' was a clip show/sing-along special and not an original episode. CBS's 'Survivor' (1.5) also held even leading into repeats of 'SEAL Team' (0.5) and 'S.W.A.T' (0.4). Interestingly enough, the drama encores were each only a tenth below what the shows posted last week for originals (0.6/0.5).
NBC's lineup of Chicago dramas had their season finales with 'Chicago Med' (1.1) down a tick but 'Chicago Fire' (1.2) and 'Chicago P.D.' (1.1) even. 'Med' was even with its year-ago finale while 'Fire' and 'P.D.' were up a notch on a year-to-year basis.
After a month off the air, 'Riverdale' (0.2) returned on the CW steady with its last broadcast. It led into the 'Nancy Drew' finale (0.1) which also held even.
