Tuesday TV Ratings 4/14/20: New Amsterdam Finale Nears Season High In Special Time, NCIS Ends Steady (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: NCIS's 17th season (1.2) came to a close on CBS, the seasoned veteran was down a tenth from last week but steady with its year-ago finale. The police procedural led into two hours of 'FBI: Most Wanted' (0.9/0.8), the program matched its previous broadcast at 9pm but inched down in its regular 10pm slot. NBC had a finale of their own in the form of 'New Amsterdam' (1.0). Airing at 9pm, the sophomore medical drama rose two-tenths from last week and and tied its season high rating. If that weren't enough, it was even a tenth higher than its first season closer (0.9). Its 'Ellen's Game of Games' (1.0) lead-in slipped two-tenths at 8pm but stayed out of season low territory.

ABC's 'The Conners' (1.0) was even with last week but comedies 'Bless This Mess' (0.6), 'Mixed-ish' (0.5), and 'Black-ish' (0.5) all lost a tenth. 'For Life' (0.5) also inched down at 10pm to a new low. This marked the end of the legal drama's streak of 0.6s, a rating it had posted seven consecutive times before this. With 'The Resident' gone, Fox placed a repeat of 'The Masked Singer' (0.6) at 8 and got a rating that wasn't far off from how an original broadcast of the Amy Holden Jones series would perform. It led into the penultimate episode of 'Empire' (0.7), steady with its last episode. The CW had repeats of 'The Flash' (0.1) and 'Legends of Tomorrow' (0.0). The latter matched the egregious number that a 'Legacies' repeat posted on April 2nd in preliminary ratings. Barring an upward adjustment, this would be the first 0.0 rating for the network this season.

Finals Update: NCIS (+0.1) adjusted up. New Amsterdam (-0.1), FBI: Most Wanted (-0.1), and the NBC News Coronavirus Special (-0.1) adjusted down.
