INT. TOWNHOUSE LIVING ROOM - DAY
It’s now a few weeks since the pitch.
The phone rings.
Ed goes down to answer it.
SUPER: FIVE MINUTES LATER
Ed solemnly walks towards the kitchen.
INT. TOWNHOUSE KITCHEN - DAY
Jack and Noah are slowly eating breakfast when Ed walks into the kitchen.
Jack looks over at Ed.
JACK
What happened?
ED
ABC decided not to pick us up to series.
JACK
How is that possible?
ED
Not enough room on the schedule.
Jack slumps down at his seat.
Noah sighs.
NOAH
Back to the drawing board.
ED
Let’s not give up now. We’re going to shop around for the other networks.
JACK
But we have one week until upfronts.
NOAH
I think it’s time we start calling.
And all three of them leave the kitchen.
SUPER: THE NEXT DAY
INT. TOWNHOUSE STUDY ROOM - DAY
Ed, Jack, and Noah sigh in disbelief.
NOAH
Another network rejection. Darn Family Channel.
ED
Wait a minute, the phone is ringing.
Sure enough, Ed picks up the phone.
ED (CONT’D)
What? New programming?
Jack and Noah look at Ed in suspense.
SUPER: FIVE MINUTES LATER
After the phone conversation, Ed tells Jack and Noah the news.
JACK
What happened now?
ED
The DC Network called to take our pilot and order it to series.
NOAH
Oh my God! This is awesome! Finally, we have a show that’s ordered to series!
JACK
Wait a minute. DC Network? Doesn’t it have superhero shows?
ED
Yeah but the network is losing three flagship series and is desperate for new programming.
SUPER: A WEEK LATER
INT. TOWNHOUSE LIVING ROOM - DAY
Ed, Jack, and Noah are gathered around the laptop.
Noah appears furious.
NOAH
Working as a Family is airing directly against Mike’s show!
JACK
That son of a b****! I never thought it would be renewed.
ED
On the bright side, the DC Network renews every hit that may be classified as marginally rated on other networks.
Jack and Noah nod in agreement.
And that concludes season 2 of Writer’s Block! See you next season!
