Wednesday TV Ratings 9/16/20: Academy of Country Music Awards Drop Harshly but Wins the Night, Notre Dame Special Flops (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: CBS's presentation of the 55th 'Academy of Country Music Awards' (1.0) was the night's top broadcast despite posting a steep year-to-year decline. The 54th awards ceremony that aired in April 2019 notched a 1.6 A18-49, meaning last night's ceremony fell a whopping 38% from that data-point. Nonetheless, it was the only program of the night to cross the 1.0 threshold and gave CBS a comfortable lead.

Over on NBC, 'America's Got Talent' (0.6) held even with its last episode while leading into repeats of 'Ellen's Game of Games' (0.4) and 'Chicago PD' (0.3). Fox wasn't far behind the peacock network as they rolled out another solid set of 'MasterChef' (0.4/0.5) encores. ABC went with repeats of 'The Goldbergs' (0.4) and 'The Conners' (0.3) but received no fanfare from a 10pm 'Notre-Dame' special (0.2). The CW had steady installments of 'The 100' (0.2) and 'Coroner' (0.1).

Finals Update: The 'Academy of Country Music Awards' (1.1, +0.1) adjusted up while a repeat of 'The Goldbergs' (0.3, -0.1) adjusted down.
