INT. UNKNOWN LOCATION - DAY
Daniel struggles to stand. His legs shake as he does so. He braces himself on the medical pod. Once he maintains balance, he looks around the white room containing unconscious men, women, and children in clear glass medical pods.
DANIEL
Hello! Anyone there?
Daniel takes a step and stumbles. He regains balance. He takes another step. Step after step, he gains control of his legs. He walks up to a door. Next to it is a palm-pad. Daniel tries prying the door open but can’t. He looks at the door and then at the palm-pad. He slowly and hesitantly places his hand on the palm print. The door slides open.
Daniel steps into a white hallway.
DANIEL
Hello?
Daniel walks down the hallways. Oblivious to the camera monitoring him in the ceiling corner.
Daniel turns a corner and runs into Greg.
DANIEL
Greg! You’re alive! You’re alive?
GREG
Yeah, I am.
DANIEL
What’s the last thing you remember?
GREG
We were fighting Boss and then... I got shot. A bunch of times. Next thing I know I’m waking up in some pod and... what the hell is this place?
DANIEL
I don’t know. Heaven?
GREG
How’d you die?
DANIEL
I uhhhh shot myself.
GREG
Wouldn’t that make this hell?
DANIEL
Look, we can get philosophical but right now, we need to find the others.
GREG
What makes you think they’re here?
DANIEL
Well, you’re here. The others must be too.
Joel & Tyler walk down the white halls.
TYLER
Do you think we’ll meet God? Cause if we do, I have so many questions.
JOEL
Is it why you’re so insufferable?
TYLER
I wonder what the big guy will look like. I mean, what religion got it right.
JOEL
This is not heaven.
TYLER
You don’t know that.
JOEL
Actually I do. You wanna know why, cause I don’t have a beer mug that can refill itself nor am I dating Brie Larson.
TYLER
Maybe you are right. This isn’t heaven. Cause you’re here.
JOEL
Yeah yeah. Let’s keep walking.
Daniel and Greg walk down the halls.
DANIEL
I don’t see any other doors.
Daniel and Greg turn a corner and see Joel & Tyler down the hall.
DANIEL
Joel!
JOEL
Dan?
The group meets up.
JOEL
Dude, what in the world is this place?
DANIEL
I don’t know.
GREG
Working theory now is that it’s heaven.
TYLER
Same!
Joel rolls his eyes.
JOEL
Look, we have been walking for hours and we haven’t found a door or an opening.
DANIEL
Same for us.
TYLER
Hey guys, we’re short one. Where’s Bailey?
Daniel looks somber.
JOEL
There there buddy, I’m sure she’s here somewhere.
There is a static sound.
INTERCOM VOICE
Congratulations, you have found each other. Proceed through the door on your right.
DANIEL
Who are you?
INTERCOM VOICE
Proceed through the door and all your questions will be answered.
JOEL
There’s no door.
A panel in the wall slides open revealing an elevator. They hesitantly step in. The panel closes and the elevator goes down.
JOEL
Hmmmm no elevator music.
The elevator stops and the door slides open. They step out into a large control room. The walls are covered in screens depicting vital signs and machine schematics. On another wall are video screens showing a wasteland and soldiers fighting.
GREG
Ok, this is definitely not heaven.
THE PROGRAMMER
No it is not.
The group turns around. In a wheelchair is an old man in his late 70s. He has grey hair and a long grey beard on his wrinkled face.
TYLER
God?
END.
