TBS:
Tournament of Laughs: Part of a new batch of unscripted shows from TBS, this at-home comedy competition show was a massive dud for TBS. Its 0.096 average makes it the lowest-rated show on the network, and it ended on a lowly 0.07. With this show seemingly just being a product of the pandemic, created simply to give TBS something to air, there's no real reason to expect a renewal for it. Everything points to cancellation, and it starts as a CERTAIN CANCELLATION.
Celebrity Show-Off: The other at-home reality show from TBS had a much better average, a 0.147, making it the top-rated new show from TBS out of this year's three new premieres. That's not saying much, though. Even with that average, it's a weak performer and it didn't do all that well for TBS. Like Tournament of Laughs, it seems more like a show to program during COVID than anything else, so I have my doubts that they'll renew it. Nevertheless, it starts out in the LEANS CANCELLATION category, because among a sea of bombs, it's not the one most in need of canceling.
Lost Resort: This is certainly not a COVID-era spackle show, but that doesn't mean it's doing well. At all. It's averaging just a 0.12 for TBS and is likely the most expensive of this trio of premieres. The show films on location, and not at the homes of its stars. It's dipped as low as 0.09 after a 0.17 start, so it's clearly been rejected and is a far cry from any scripted show that was in that slot. Hypothetically, it could be back, but I'm not counting on it. It's a LIKELY CANCELLATION.
The Misery Index: This unscripted show actually did work out for TBS, and has been renewed (as I predicted) for a third season, to premiere October 20.
Miracle Workers: This show did very decently for TBS, but it had a lot going against it. It's airing on a network that (seemingly quite foolishly) abandoned its comedy brand, and we're in the middle of a pandemic that has spurred multiple cancellations of previously-renewed shows. However, my renewal prediction ended up being correct, as the show was renewed in early August.
TruTV:
At Home with Amy Sedaris: I had high praise for this show's ratings rise in my last update, but I am a bit worried about it with some of the recent cable axings. It's not a huge performer, and unlike most other TruTV shows, it's scripted, and thus, is probably more expensive than some of those cheap realities. It's not a flop, but the costs may not justify continued production as COVID raises production fees. It also relies heavily on guest appearances, so that further complicates thigns. I'd still call it a small favorite for renewal, but it's being downgraded to LEANS RENEWAL.
Since the last update, TruTV also renewed Tacoma FD and canceled I'm Sorry (which was set to move to TBS).
Comedy Central:
Comedy Central went and canceled a bunch of shows since the last update. Tosh.0 and Drunk History, despite renewals, were axed entirely. The Other Two and South Side won't be back on the network and will move to HBO Max. This doesn't impact predictions for their very few remaining shows.
FXX:
Cake: Ratings for this show are low, but so are production costs, most likely. It's aired three seasons already, and it doesn't look like it's gonna be gone anytime soon. Ratings aren't getting any worse, and FXX seems to like it. It's a LIKELY RENEWAL.
