Preliminary Analysis: Following in the footsteps of Fox's TMZ special (that garnered a robust 1.0 rating), CBS decided to cash in on the 'Tiger King' hysteria with a special of their own in the form of '48 Hours: Suspicion' (0.3). The '48 Hours' outing debuted in pretty feeble territory, losing a tenth from a stable 'Love Island' (0.4) before it. While the Fox special had a much stronger lead-in (1.5), this is still a pretty unsatisfactory result that may signal the hype for the Netflix series has died down. CBS started the night with longtime juggernaut 'Big Brother' (1.0), the series lost a tenth from its last Wednesday episode but rose from its Sunday airing.
NBC's own powerhouse 'America's Got Talent' (0.6) couldn't hold a candle to CBS's 8pm effort but at least held stable with its last installment. It led into a very low-rated 'Inspire Change' special (0.2) and a 'Chicago Fire' repeat (0.2). Fox managed to beat out the peacock network's encores with a duo of 'MasterChef' repeats (0.4/0.4). ABC fell behind them with a set of six comedy repeats (0.4/0.3/0.3/0.3/0.3/0.2). The CW gained a tick with 'The 100' (0.2) but was frozen at 0.1 with 'Coroner'.
