Preliminary Analysis: ABC's 'To Tell the Truth' capped off its fifth season on a rather sour note, garnering a 0.4 rating at both 9pm and 10pm. The two-hour finale trailed what the program had managed for its last original (0.6), falling two-tenths from that data point. Despite that, 'Truth' was essentially even with its year-ago finale and has been a stable presence on the summer roster this season. Earlier in the night, 'Holey Moley' (0.5) shed a tenth from its previous outing. But the alphabet network remained no match for the juggernaut that is 'Big Brother' (1.0). The reality series was flat with last week and once more topped the night. Unfortunately, lead-out 'Love Island' (0.4) remained an incompatible and low-rated companion.
Even if it hasn't aired an original since December 2019, Fox went with two repeats of 'Beat Shazam' (0.3/0.4) and got pretty decent mileage from it in the process. 'Shazam' managed to perform slightly better than NBC's repeat trio of 'The Wall' (0.3), 'Transplant' (0.3), and 'SVU' (0.3). 'Transplant' was actually just a tenth below its Tuesday series premiere. The CW settled for a steady 'Mysteries Decoded' (0.1) and a repeat of 'Penn & Teller' (0.1).
Finals Update: The original episode of 'Big Brother' (1.1, +0.1) and repeats of 'Beat Shazam' (+0.1), 'The Wall' (+0.1) and, 'Law & Order: SVU' (+0.1) adjusted up.
