High on Empire, But Less So Than Before
Advertisers are seemingly still very high on Empire, though its ad rate fell 30% from last season, acknowledging the sharp declines the show has been facing. Luckily, sister show Star is next on the list, and while far behind Empire's ad rate, looks as if the network and advertisers are expecting it to be a staple.
Bob's Burgers Up, But Still Low
Bob's Burgers saw a 14% increase in its ad rate this season compared to last season, though it is still only at 62% of FOX's average ad rate, the second lowest-rated on the network. Interestingly, so far it is doing nearly the same as Family Guy, despite the latter having aired in the football halo before. It's FOX's #6 show, and would have been #5 had it not been for The Orville's special Sunday airings.
Mediocre Thursday Night
FOX is trying to figure out what Thursday night means to them in a world without American Idol, and the latest attempt is DC show Gotham and Seth MacFarlane's The Orville paired up. So far, both are doing decently and are looking to live up to their rates. Since we've found success before in predicting renewals and cancelations of veteran shows with their ad rates, it's important to keep a close watch on Gotham to see if it dips below that 73. So far things are looking solid for it.
9-1-1 Will Be A Priority Midseason
While we don't know what the ad rates are for midseason shows like The Resident and LA --> Vegas will be, we do know that Ryan Murphy's new show 9-1-1 will hover around or slightly above the average ad rate for FOX's shows. In order to live up to its ad rate, chances are it'll get a decent time slot in the spring.
