CW Renew/Cancel: Riverdale's Likely to be Renewed, What About Dynasty?

Welcome to a new installment of the CW Renew/Cancel Watch. Two more shows premiered and I now have their predictions.

Riverdale: Last night, the show premiered to a 0.8 A18-49 rating in the prelims. This is a considerable upward trend from the 0.4-0.5 numbers and the occasional 0.3 it was getting after Supernatural last season. If other shows do premiere less than a 0.8, this would be the CW's #2 show of the week. For this reason, Riverdale starts out as "likely to be renewed".

Dynasty: Considering the lead-in, Dynasty did much worse in retention than Valor, which currently sits at "likely to be canceled". Valor had a mediocrely-rated Supergirl premiere for its lead in. Dynasty had half hours of 0.4 and 0.3, and hit a 0.3 in A18-34. It also retained only less than 50% from Riverdale. Dynasty adjusted down to a 0.3 in finals. This show does not have much further to fall. To be honest, with the name recognition that the show has, it should have done better than what it got last night. But since both fall newbies are produced by CBS Studios, CBS affirmative action is in play. The only other thing is keeping me from going "likely to be canceled" on Dynasty is the US+24 Netflix deal. Plus, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend may be the only returning CBS show next season if Jane the Virgin ends or gets canceled. For now, Dynasty is in the Watching column, pending further data points.
