While Syfy and TNT have seen little action in the past months, Freeform is keeping the lights on with two of their signature series returning from hiatuses. Keep on reading to see my initial predictions for Motherland: Fort Salem and Grown-ish.
Freeform:Motherland: Fort Salem: First-run ratings for this fantasy drama are certainly nothing to rave about. It's plunged 40% from its first season to a very modest 0.06 average, placing it towards the bottom of the Freeform scripted pack. However, it does appear to be a solid performer for Freeform on Hulu and streaming services. Parrot Analytics reports that it has a 11.3 audience demand multiplier, and extremely impressive number that places it ahead of all but two Freeform shows. I have a hard time seeing Freeform cancel a relatively young show that's drawing that many viewers. While those low first-run ratings leave room for it to conceivably be canceled, that doesn't appear likely at all. It's a LIKELY RENEWAL.
Grown-ish: Long the highest-rated show on Freeform, Grown-ish seems as if it may finally lost that title, returning with a 0.11 for its fourth season premiere, down 23%. That ties the Cruel Summer finale, leaving Grown-ish in real danger of slipping below Summer as the season goes along. Of course, you don't need to be the top-rated show on the network to get renewed, so its still quite likely to be back. However, it is getting older and, with a premise revolving around its title characters attending college, it does seem as if it may be reaching a natural ending place. Plenty of college-focused shows have ran longer than four seasons, so this doesn't mean the show is certainly on its way out. Also of note is that ABC is ending Grown-ish's parent series Blackish in 2022 after eight seasons, meaning that if Grown-ish would receivea fifth season, it would likely air that season after Blackish is already ended. That's not unprecedented either, but it's one of a few reasons why, despite being Freeform's top show, Grown-ish is only a LIKELY RENEWAL.
Cruel Summer: Since our last update in May, Cruel Summer expectedly secured a second season. One of the few breakout successes for this low-rated network, the show grew over time and was a pretty clear renewal decision. In fact, its renewal was so obvious that Freeform renewed it despite not having any details on what, in fact, season two will be about, or what cast members (if any) will be returning.

No updates.
