Match Game: Last night, Match Game returned from a months-long hiatus in fine fashion, with a 0.4 at 10 PM behind a 0.5 from Pyramid. It's not a great rating, put it's certainly nothing terrible and it's one of the better ratings for a 10 PM series on ABC (or any network) this summer. Still, I think Match Game is in more danger now than it's ever been in before. Despite ratings that are obviously acceptable, the show does not appear to be a priority for the network. The two (two!) episodes that it is set to air this summer are both holdovers from last season, episodes that didn't make it to air during its run last summer/fall. Other summer game shows, including Press Your Luck, also had episodes held over from last season, but they ended up producing more episodes this season as well, allowing them to have full-season runs over the summer. That ABC didn't produce another season of Match Game alongside the other game shows is certainly a worrying sign. While the ratings don't point to a cancellation, other factors say it's a possibility, and that's why it only LEANS RENEWAL.
When Nature Calls with Helen Mirren: Speaking of ABC summer shows, this one is in real trouble. It's only aired three episodes and is moving from 8 PM to a less desirable 9 PM time slot after posting two straight 0.3s in ABC's best Thursday night slot. It's obvious that ABC is less than thrilled by its performance and is trying to salvage Thursday nights in some way. If they're already admitting defeat in regards to this show, I see little reason to suspect that they'd renew it. It's now a LIKELY CANCELLATION.
Secret Celebrity Renovation: I'll be completely honest. When making last week's Renew/Cancel, I entirely forgot that this show existed. Its ratings were so mediocre that I didn't remember to predict anything for it initially. That's changing this week! With two weeks at 0.3, the show is far from a breakout, but I don't think CBS would expect any sort of breakout in such a dismal slot. This feels like a pretty classic one-and-done summer show where the ratings aren't offensively bad, but they're not good either. The show does about what a repeat would do in the slot, not worse and not better. I don't think that's going to be enough for a renewal, but it's not off the table, either. Maybe it could come back as filler; the ratings have yet to make me definitely say that that's not possible. However, the safe bet here seems to be that this show LEANS CANCELLATION.
