Friday TV Ratings 7/9/21: Secret Celebrity Renovation Has Modest Premiere, Gossip Girl Repeat Draws Average Ratings for The CW, Love Island Steady (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: CBS's 'Secret Celebrity Renovation' (0.3) got off to an underwhelming start for its series debut. Although this is a somewhat acceptable rating by Friday standards, it's still barely an improvement over the typical repeat of 'Blue Bloods' or 'Magnum PI'. 'Love Island' (0.3) tied its Thursday installment in the 9pm slot and led into a rerun of 'Blue Bloods' (0.2). Without 'Stanley Cup' competition, Fox's 'WWE Smackdown' (0.5) took back the title of highest-rated broadcast, roughly even with its week-ago showing (0.46). NBC had a repeat of 'American Ninja Warrior' (0.3) and a solid 'Dateline' original (0.4). ABC was on the low-end with encores of 'Shark Tank' (0.2) and '20/20' (0.3). The CW got decent mileage out of a rerun of 'Gossip Girl' (0.1) and a 'Whose Line' encore (0.1).
