Sunday TV Ratings 7/4/21: Macy’s 4th of July Spectacular Slips but Dominates, Celebrity Family Feud and To Tell The Truth Repeats Take Second (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: 4th of July was a predictably quiet evening as most networks opted to air repeats instead of taking the risk of broadcasting new content. NBC had the lone original with its annual telecast of the 'Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular' (0.6), followed immediately after by an encore presentation at 10 (0.5). Both showings were just a tenth below what they posted in 2020 (0.7/0.6). A repeat of 'Capital One College Bowl' (0.2) occupied the 7pm hour. ABC had passable reruns of 'AFV' (0.2), 'Celebrity Family Feud' (0.3), 'The Chase' (0.2), and 'To Tell the Truth' (0.3). CBS got a 0.2 out of its 7pm '60 Minutes' but fell into the 0.1 territory with repeats of 'The Equalizer', 'NCIS: Los Angeles', and 'NCIS: New Orleans'. Fox got 0.1s out of its 7-9pm cartoon rerun carousel, but the 9:30pm 'Family Guy' repeat (0.2) improved a bit from there. The CW failed to make dent with its 'Legends of Tomorrow' rerun (0.0) but rivaled the other networks with its 9pm 'Penn & Teller' encore (0.1).

Finals Update: Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular (+0.1) and repeats of America's Funniest Home Videos (+0.1), 60 Minutes (+0.1), Celebrity Family Feud (+0.1), The Equalizer (+0.1), The Chase (+0.1), NCIS: Los Angeles (+0.1) and NCIS: New Orleans (+0.1) adjusted up. The repeat of Penn & Teller: Fool Us (-0.1) adjusted down.
