American Housewife Canceled by ABC

ABC will be going without a Housewife, as they've canceled veteran sitcom American Housewife after five seasons. The series was one of ABC's longest-running comedies on their schedule this season, with only The Goldbergs and Blackish running for longer. The series was a so-so performer in its fifth season, rating in the middle of ABC's scripted pack with a 0.55 18-49 ratings average, leading to its cancellation. Its incredibly steady year-to-year trend (it dropped just 5% from season four) was not enough to save it from cancellation. It's possible that the behind-the-scenes trubles played a factor in the decision. The series faced allegations of a toxic workplace environment from original cast member Carly Hughes, who left the series ahead of the season. This led to the dismissals of creator Sarah Dunn and line producer Mark Greenberg. Series regulars Julia Butters and Ali Wong also departed before and during the season due to other engagements. Katy Mixon, Diedrich Bader, Daniel DiMaggio, Meg Donnelly and Giselle Eisenberg comprised the cast for the fifth and final season. The series ran for 103 episodes before it aired was turned out to be its series finale on March 31. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.
