The show had been one of the highest-rated talk shows but has seen massive 40% declines this season following multiple controversies surrounding DeGeneres. This news doesn't come as a complete surprise, as DeGeneres has hinted on multiple occasions in recent years about a potential departure from her show. The show spawned multiple spinoffs, including NBC's Ellen's Game of Games and Fox's The Masked Dancer.
