Saturday TV Ratings 5/8/21: Saturday Night Live Jumps with Elon Musk, VAX LIVE Low, Dateline and SNL Vintage Lead (UPDATED)

Preliminary Analysis: On NBC, a pair of 'Dateline' originals (0.4/0.5) posted a surprisingly strong result by Saturday standards. 'SNL Vintage' (0.4) managed to keep up the momentum in the 10pm slot. A 'VAX Live' special wasn't able to lure in viewers on ABC (0.2) or CBS (0.2). ABC followed that with an encore of 'American Idol' (0.2) while CBS went with '48 Hours' (0.3). Fox was far below the other networks with 'MLS Soccer' (0.1).

Finals Update: 'VAX LIVE' on ABC (+0.1) adjusted up. 'Dateline NBC' (-0.2, -0.2) adjusted down. With host Elon Musk and musical guest Miley Cyrus, 'SNL' soared to a mammoth 1.84 A18-49 rating, a full eight-tenths above its last installment (1.04).
