Apple TV+ Renew/Cancel: Snoopy Has Trouble Finding An Audience, For All Mankind Proves Its Worth

Below is a table of audience demand multipliers as reported by Parrot Analytics for Apple TV+’s original series. A 1.0 multiplier is the average for all shows past and present, and is updated on a rolling 30-day basis. New entries include The Snoopy Show, Defending Jacob, and The Mosquito Coast. Since the most recent edition, Ghostwriter was renewed, a correct prediction. The numbers seen in this table are as reported on May 15, 2021. The Snoopy Show
Just like Snoopy In Space, The Snoopy Show is having a tough time getting off the ground. Both shows are toward the bottom of the table. Still, it’s doing better than the much-hyped Snoopy In Space has been doing all year, and that show was renewed. In fact, I’ll probably continue to predict renewals for freshmen Apple TV+ series until they prove me wrong. Right now, the service seems to be concerned more with volume that anything else. Given subscribers only get a back catalog if they download other service’s apps, quickly growing their original slate seems to be in Apple’s best interest.

The Mosquito Coast
The Mosquito Coast is roughly around the middle of the pack right now. It is not far behind Amazing Stories, which currently has a greater multiplier than any other show with an outstanding fate. It doesn’t appear to be Apple’s next breakout hit, but it’s holding its own.

Defending Jacob
Easily the most in-demand of the three series that premiered so far in 2021, Defending Jacob indicates Apple TV+ may want to get in the business or ordering more miniseries. On the upside, they can tend to be more successful than first seasons of non-miniseries. Plus, unlike on linear television, that miniseries will remain on the service long after it finishes airing. On the downside, miniseries can’t be renewed no matter how successful they may be. Either way, Defending Jacob is a nice success story for Apple TV+.

For All Mankind
One of Apple TV+’s first series, For All Mankind returned for Season 2 in February and wrapped in on April 23. It took a long hiatus from the end of Season 1, which finished in December 2019. Luckily for Apple TV+, it appears there is still plenty of demand for this show. It and Ted Lasso are now two of streaming’s most in-demand shows, and help Apple make its case as a TV streaming giant.
