Writer’s Block
2x10 - “The Tour”

INT. CAR - DAY

When we last left Jack and Noah, they were kicked out by Uncle Peter and struggled to find a place to sleep.

They are now in the middle of their college comedy tour.

Jack sits in the passenger seat crunching the numbers.

Noah is doing the driving. Currently, they are in Seattle, Noah’s hometown.

JACK
Three dates down, five more to go.

NOAH
Welcome to Seattle. Now, how much do we have.

JACK
About $1500 from three dates.

NOAH
That would have been more than enough to cover at least a month and a half's worth of rent at our old apartment. But lately we’ve booked hotels, slept in our car, got gas five times, and more. We should have at least $2500 now to get by.

JACK
(with a chuckle)
Chill now. We’ll have more than enough once we get through tomorrow night’s sets and four more dates for gigs.

NOAH
You may be right.

The two of them face the road.

EXT. COMEDY CLUB - EVENING

A comedy club sits in the northwestern part of Seattle, Noah’s hometown.

SUPER: TWO HOURS LATER

INT. COMEDY CLUB - EVENING

Noah is in the middle of performing his set. Jack is backstage.

NOAH
And you know, the guy kicked us out of his big old huge mansion. This guy scared me half to death. He’s like a walking Panzer tank.

The audience gasps. Slowly, laughter erupts.

EXT. OFFICE BUILDING - DAY

The next day, we head to Los Angeles. An office building sits in the corner of Hollywood Blvd.

INT. CONFERENCE ROOM - DAY

Here, Mike’s new show Writer’s Block (ironically the title of this TVRGO show. How meta?) is underway at the writer’s room.

Jill, Mike, and two other writers, Writer #1 and Writer #2 are planning out the storyboard.

JILL
Say, we have our protagonist and his roommate. They are in a sticky situation in trying to get a show on the air.

MIKE
And annoying roommates.

WRITER #1
I’ll drink to that!

MIKE
Focus, Matt. We have 13 episodes to write, so far. If we do well, we’ll write at least another nine.

WRITER #2
Or ten, or eleven.

Jill nods as she writes down on a piece of paper.

Mike then gets up from the table and walks over to the storyboard.

He points to it.

MIKE
Every episode, this is important. The story is what’s going to make the audience tune in. We don’t need to make just the annoying writer and the roommate stand out. We need to make them compelling.

JILL
Mike, please don’t go there.

MIKE
Oh, say, Jillian, why not go call your sister?

JILL
You mean Kasey? I can’t just do that in the middle of a meeting.

Mike laughs. The other writers sit silently.

INT. CAR - DAY

Back at the car, Jack and Noah are traveling along.

JACK
$2800. Four more dates to go.

NOAH
Exceeding expectations. We’re now in San Francisco.

JACK
Look Noah!

NOAH
What is it?

Jack and Noah pull over and stop at a strange building.
